Bless me, SW, for I have sinned.

Yesterday evening, and again this morning, I committed the cardinal sin of demanding that a lunatic conspiracy theorist provide evidence for the claims he makes.

You clearly dont understand the nature of those who buy into conspiracy theories. The psychological and indeed psychiatric conditions that can allow this deviation from the norm can come from many causes, including self harm and substance abuse. But in the end the result is the same. A need to have your voice heard and be regarded in a leadership role, to stand out from the crowd. Look at the guy who painted himself like an indian , put on a big horned hat and made sure he was seen on January 6 in the Capitol building. Perfect example, when compared to the same man when he appeared in court.
We have these people with the same condition here, making claims, supporting various theories involving Faked Moon landings, Fake religions, fake climate change and fake election results,. The point is that there really is no need for them to justify their logic. The moment in the spotlight and the appearance of importance they seek is in the rest of us offering relevance to them by acknowledging them.. From time to time I am equally guilty of this. My only defence is that the other person waffling on is so obviously unable to defend their position and condemns themselves every time they open their mouths. I do get a kick out of poking some bears. Cruel I know..馃樂

Conspiracies can be a double edged sword. MK Ultra was once something that was the source of ridicule.

If you are old enough you know that many other whistleblowers in the 90s and 2000s said exactly what Ed Snowden did and the only difference was Snowden managed to take documents with him to back his claims. In fact the US government originally tried the same smear tactics with Snowden till they realized he had receipts.

So while I have no patience for shit like the anti vaxxers that push stuff that doesn't even pass the smell test if you took high school biology, I also think it is dangerous to dismiss all conspiracies as equally ridiculous.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Which is why I request evidence before dismissing such claims outright. Describing MK Ultra to someone who is unfamiliar with the subject sounds absolutely psychotic. Yet we know it happened.
@CorvusBlackthorne Oh absolutely and I get that. The problem is, unless the government fucks up it could be 50 to 70 years before that information is declassified at all. The only reason why we are not hearing in 2070 that Ed Snowden was not a crazy person is only because the NSA and Boos Allen Hamilton fucked up with their security protocols for document access.

@sunsporter1649 I'm having a good laugh watching these clowns talk to each other like they are the Almighty lol.馃嵖
@ron122 We do not consider ourselves the almighty. I can understand how you might assume so, since we are both clearly more intelligent than you.

@ron122 I hangout with the almighty all the time, he's a fascinating bloke, bit of a jerk though

This is why I unfollowed the Politics group. Plus a ton of these magates (pronounced maggots) have kindly blocked or muted me so there's that I'm thankful for, too 馃ぃ馃憤
WalterF the local covid conspiracy nut?
@CorvusBlackthorne Oh. That fellow. He blocked me a long time again so I no longer see his bullshit.馃ぃ
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow He blocked my other account, but keeps this one unblocked so that he can remind me that I am the worst and most vile waste of oxygen on this website.
@CorvusBlackthorne Seems appropriately childish for the right wingers here.

Did you get the "Data? Where we go, we don't need no stinking data!"?
@windinhishair Very nearly. He told me repeatedly that he will not provide evidence, because he just knows that I would not read it.
windinhishair61-69, M
@CorvusBlackthorne That's code for I have nothing except for what I believe without evidence.
Elessar26-30, M
You've offended their faith, and for doing so, the right punishment is to make you read David Icke
AceWarbringer36-40, M
Thats.... quite the sin.

Did you at least listen?
@AceWarbringer I did. The gentleman in question insisted that Hunter's laptop is still unsullied evidence, in spite of it having been in the custody of just about everyone, including the Trump Department of Justice. When I asked him for evidence of his claim, he refused to provide it under the dubious claim that I wouldn't read it.
