@Coffeequilt asks what we hated most about the Trump admin.
For me, it was the botched pandemic response leading to about 250,000 excess American deaths. The estimate comes from the fact than nations like Canada and Germany had HALF our per capita covid death rate all thru the Trump presidency.
Trump's initial 5 weeks of lies about Covid, his refusal to wear a mask, his flogging of drugs that did nothing against Covid, and his general anti-science attitude had a terrible cost in American lives.
Jan 22 “And we have it totally under control... It’s going to be just fine.”
Jan 24, he tweeted “It will all work out well.”
Jan 30: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
Feb 05 CDC started shipping test kits. They didn't work.
Feb 10 “Looks like by April, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,”
Feb 19 “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”
Feb 23 “very much under control,”
Feb 26 “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
Feb 26 “...when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
Feb 28 concern about coronavirus “is their new hoax”
Feb 28 “we’ve lost nobody and you wonder the press is in hysteria mode.”
Feb 29 said a vaccine would be available “very quickly” and “very rapidly”
Mar 02 “We’re talking about a much smaller range” of deaths than from the flu.
Mar 04 (to Hannity) “It’s very mild.”
Mar 10 “And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
Mar 13 “No. I don't take responsibility at all.”

It's down to the people, sweetie......
In case you missed it all, I do believe that Mr Trump's policy of 'No, there's no Covid-19. Get out there and start up the world again', at it's most vulnerable, has caused more deaths than should have occurred. Some would call it stupidity, some would call it ego talking....other's would call it genocide.
The world was a different place just a few short years ago....and, honestly, my mate's cat could have steered the country to those good places who's stats you've just thrown out.
Everyone, pretty much, these days are hurting. Pretty much every country. Biden, it seems, talks to/about the country....Trump? Me, me, me, me, me....
🤔

@CassandraSissy Im am sad Pres Trump is running again too. I think he will work hard ro damage DeSantis. But really can we handle 6 .3 more years of biden?
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
As always with the far right: their arrogance and incapacity to understand that wide swaths of the country don’t think like them, did them in. A similar vibe to the 1998 midterms for those that remember.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
This election draws attention that government has ceased being for and by the people and is now for every everyone but by one party or the other.
A political victory of 50,001% now means that 49,999% have little say so in the affairs of government.

Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
@Heartlander The margins in some races is under 1000 people. If you live in a purple state your vote is crucial! Same for a lot of local races in solid blue or red states. The tired old trope about votes not counting is just an excuse…
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Quetzalcoatlus I think what turned the tide from red to blue in our area was the transition over the past few years to younger voters in huge apartment complexes, like mini-cities in themselves. In a way, we got the exodus from the shrinking, failed core city and they brought their politics with them.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Heartlander This has always been the case in the US. Support ranked choice voting if you ever want to see it change.

The only red wave happening is the one going on in my uterus

Democrat voters proved how stupid they are.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
The thing is, the Republicans never "had it in the bag." Cry-baby-trump and "the base" is like a bowling ball chained to them and it was inevitable that the toxic weight of both would eventually drag them down. They lasted as long as they could. Now, it's just a matter of waiting for the corpse to go tits up.
checkoutanytime · M
They are in good shape, the senate is still split, but its the house that holds the purse strings, and the Red wave washed that away from the communist blues.
@checkoutanytime the house ? Goody let’s watch the legislation the house puts forward to benefit America.
checkoutanytime · M
@Ryderbike our bridges are falling down, decrypted with neglect, i know i wont feel the ressecion, bc of public safety. I saw this fundamental flip coming in my youth.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
The only people who thought a red wave was going to happen are right wingers so far up their own asses they believe their own shit.
And it is amusing people still spout this copium. Sad.
