The red wave was expected and should have happened.

Biden is not a popular president and doesn’t do much to change our minds. The unfortunate alternative is batshit crazy!

So we vote for the forgetful grandpa instead. The GOP had it in the bag but missed their opportunity.

@Coffeequilt asks what we hated most about the Trump admin.

For me, it was the botched pandemic response leading to about 250,000 excess American deaths. The estimate comes from the fact than nations like Canada and Germany had HALF our per capita covid death rate all thru the Trump presidency.

Trump's initial 5 weeks of lies about Covid, his refusal to wear a mask, his flogging of drugs that did nothing against Covid, and his general anti-science attitude had a terrible cost in American lives.

Jan 22 “And we have it totally under control... It’s going to be just fine.”
Jan 24, he tweeted “It will all work out well.”
Jan 30: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
Feb 05 CDC started shipping test kits. They didn't work.
Feb 10 “Looks like by April, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,”
Feb 19 “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”
Feb 23 “very much under control,”
Feb 26 “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
Feb 26 “...when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
Feb 28 concern about coronavirus “is their new hoax”
Feb 28 “we’ve lost nobody and you wonder the press is in hysteria mode.”
Feb 29 said a vaccine would be available “very quickly” and “very rapidly”
Mar 02 “We’re talking about a much smaller range” of deaths than from the flu.
Mar 04 (to Hannity) “It’s very mild.”
Mar 10 “And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
Mar 13 “No. I don't take responsibility at all.”

@ElwoodBlues Thank you! You actually put thought into your response. I respect you.
I dont know the Mrs Clinton or biden would have done any better though.
@Coffeequilt The nations that responded really well, like Japan & Korea & New Zealand, were either islands or culturally very different with mask wearing common.

But my comparison is to Canada & Germany. Germany has effectively open borders with many nations that did much worse; Canada is culturally similar to the US. I think under Hillary we could have aspired to do as well as those two. I think Hillary would have been a one term president and crucified by republicans for losing half the lives we lost under Trump. But I think she would have listened to the experts and not tried to prop up the stock markets with lies for the first 5 weeks.
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@ElwoodBlues you may very well be right
@ElwoodBlues actually it was over 600,000 excess deaths

Here is the evidence,

These stats Oct 25,2022

Canada Covid deaths per million 1199
USA Covid deaths per million 3266
That’s 3266-1199=2067 x 330=682,110

If America had the same Covid death rate as Canada 682,110 people would still be alive.

Trumps legacy of undermining health experts ..
@Coffeequilt what nations did worse than . America?

Out of 230 countries and territories United States was 14 th from the worst for Covid deaths .

216 countries did far better than United States.

Germany had about half the owe capita death rate
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@Ryderbike I apologize im not a virologist, i didn’t realize you were. 🤣
@Coffeequilt I can read the stats.

Just takes being literate

America Covid deaths rates per million 3286

Germany 1855

Posting factual data makes you a snowflake, didn't ya know? Crying about the election is real alpha shit. I hope you learned something today. @Ryderbike
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@SW-User oh I, and everyone else, learned a lot about you 🤣
@Coffeequilt by the way You should read the links you post.

This is from your link after adjusted data.

The figures also show that the United States has performed worse than many comparably rich nations — having lost more than two years of average life expectancy compared with 2019.

Life-expectancy calculations, however, tend to give more weight to premature deaths in younger people — because more years of life are lost in such cases. The United States also saw a notable excess of deaths in younger age groups, demographers say.

@ElwoodBlues

The record is clear but cults don’t operate in a reality based world.

As trump stated “I can shoot people on 5th Ave and not lose support”

He himself defined his own followers as a cult
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@Ryderbike 🤣🤣 there you go, "cult"
When you cant defend biden, just attack
@Coffeequilt I don’t defend Biden.

He’s doing great,

I’m simply pointing out trump defined you as a cult

Take it up with trump
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@Ryderbike 🤣🤣 ok
@Coffeequilt facts matter
Coffeequilt · 51-55, F
@Ryderbike Yes they do. We agree.
