California Craziness: Now They Want to Ban Diesel Trucks to Fix Racism

The California craziness is at it again (is it in the water?). The California Air Resources Board (CARB) wants to ban all diesel trucks by 2040, requiring them to be fully electric. And they’re doing it to …wait for it… “rectify racist practices.

[big]Now In Dire Need

California will be Using Earthquakes
for Power Creation!! [/big]

Magnitude 7 Earthquakes
are Optimal Says Newsom

"A Magnitude 7.0 Quake will release 2.0 x 1015 Joules of Power or 556 GWh (Giga Watt Hours) which is the Annual energy consumption of 47,000 average US households!" Gov. Gavin Newsome gleefully said as he peddled his Exer-Gen Cycle Generator to Green Power his press conference.

Turning power over to his Tread-E⚡-Mill jogging staff Gavin further explained that 1 Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake will be Required every to 8 to 10 Hours to Produce Enough Green Electricity to Power California!

He also said that Newly Created California Earthquake Making Authority's powers will be Far Reaching & Unlimited, so as to Forcefully Relocate Citizens that will become Homeless and Jobless due to the expectation of Major Daily Destruction and Ruin everywhere.

There's plans in the works by CEMA to Tax people in other States that feel the trembling from the continual Earthquakes, "It's ONLY FAIR!" said former Senator Snortle Fartbunder, Now Director General of CEMA. "It's Very Expensive to Blow Up 15 Kilotons of TNT every 8 to 10 Hours for the Earthquake Power Generator (EPG) to Stop the Unbearable Brown Outs and having to Live in a Desert Without Air-conditioning like Savages!"

Governor Newsome also stated that all State Property Taxes will Double, Sales Taxes will Increase to 39.3%, but that Individual Income Taxes will Only Rise 11% to 68.75% High for most Tax Brackets!

He assured Immigration Activists that, "Illegals will definitely Still be Housed, Fed and Educated FREE
by California when Lovingly Relocated into the Safe New Earthquake Free Zones!"

They can also opt out of moving, as the able bodied are being offered $300K each to stay behind and clear and sort Valuable Recyclable Rubble Materials which will be sold to cover expenses!

We are at a point of change in energy and transportation technology. To minimize climate change we must shift to low and zero carbon emissions power generation and vehicles.

Over 120 years ago we shifted to oil (petrol fossil fuels) and the internal combustion engine. That era is now coming to an end. Don't be afraid of change. There will be challenges, but also great opportunities. Research and development is progressing rapidly on clean energy and low-zero carbon emission vehicles. Americans are beginning to change their transpiration habits. For example, millions of Americans are finding e-bikes are an excellent means to commute to work. And much less costly than driving a car. You don't need a huge gas-guzzling SUV to travel a few miles!

It's interesting how dismissive right-wing people are of clean energy and electric vehicles. Americans used to be known for our 'can do' attitude. What happened to that attitude?

@badminton All you showed me is that you have no idea how electricity is generated. Nice of you to try to make political points though.

All you can do is laugh at the idiots in California. Pretty boy Newsom is just about as stupid as AOC and the "Squad."
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@ron122 And the people keep electing them!

@fanuc2013 Wonders never cease....
I escaped the craziness in 1982 while Jerry Brown was Starting the Madness !

Nothing can Possibly Ever Fix it Now!
It will just become worse & worse.

Electric trucks have a range of 60ish miles at mo , how many miles they normally do 500-600 10 hours driving 10 hours recharging 🤔

It's all clear now!

Interesting…
They’d better start figuring out how supply chain coming into the state is going to get things to them and they’d also better ban all maritime supply chain vessels that port California. Cause they’re ALL diesel powered

BeachBum · F
🤔 and what will run the generators, required to charge these magical, social justice electricky trucks , over long distances 🙄

Best not start delving into what kinds of materials, such as rare earth minerals, (*cough & fossil fuels are required) for ongoing manufacturing of EVs and ALL of the componenents, in the production of renewables.

No one thinks of those poor little African kids slaving in the cobalt mines....

🤡🌍
joe438 · 61-69, M
@BeachBum the ranches will begin raising unicorns. Their farts contain no methane (they smell like strawberry ice cream) and the glitter that falls off their horns can power generators far better than coal , gas or oil.

There are 14 CARB states (+D.C.), states that have passed legislation to adopt whatever CARB does with regards to emission standards:

Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
Washington D.C.

What California SHOUD have done (and other states as well) is not build schools next to interstates and other major highways. What California SHOULD have done (and other states as well) was not approve the building of housing developments next to interstates and other major highways.

In other words, practice some common sense.

Now, they're all trying to correct past mistakes - while at the same time continuing to approve the building of schools and housing in errors more prone to cancer risks because of the closeness to highways.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@beckyromero But how does banning diesels fix racism?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649

It doesn't "fix" much of anything. Because the schools and housing developments are still there along major highways.

There will be kids who aren't even BORN yet who will go through their entire school years before CARB's proposal would go in effect. This proposal does NOTHING for them, regardless of their skin color.

https://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/ca-emission-cops-want-to-slam-the-brakes-on-diesel-rigs/

But all the political posturing about this is probably a mute point. Republicans like to make political hay about this and the ban on sale of gas-powered cars, but the simple fact is that the California Constitution gives its citizens an initiative process. Simply put, the voters can OVERRULE this or any other piece of legislation (or rule-making by unelected bodies like the CARB) they don't like by putting it to a vote on the ballot.

They actually have a more democratic process out there with ballot initiatives than we do here.

You guys should try one or the other.

@beckyromero Moot point.
Snuffy1957 · 61-69, M
I'm soooo glad I don't live in that shithole!!!
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
lets just stick all the greenies in commiefornia and build a wall around it and quarantine the entire state, so when their ban goes into effect, and their economy collapses a day later; the rest of us won't have to listen to their moaning and complaining...
Confined · 56-60, M
I saw we completely cut California off. No trucks, no deleveries there. Close the boarder. Close all sea ports.
Confined · 56-60, M
@Virgo79 We have them, just dont get used as much. But I agree we need ports in TX,NY and several other places along the east coast. Time we closed CA off.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Confined yes more ports
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Confined or federal government could just eminent domain west coast ports, take control of them from commiefornia; isolate and shut them out of their only major source of income...

In this instance, I suppose that "rectify" means: to make more like one's rectum. 🤗
Diesel creates pollution
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@mysteryespresso So now pollution is racist, along with rocks and clouds
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@mysteryespresso so does mining, processing, & production of material to produce batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, etc.

your point? 🤔

llloydfred · 56-60, M
I wonder if the air brakes are going to be electrical also on the big trucks and coaches.
llloydfred · 56-60, M
@llloydfred I stand corrected there is 2 systems that accommodate trailer air brakes to electrical
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@llloydfred air brakes have redundancy; if you have air leak/system fails, brakes lock and you're okay.

electric brakes don't, if they fail, you're fucked.

Interesting!

allygator18 · 22-25, F
That seems reasonable. The state has done an amazing job of lowering cancer, COPD, asthma, and other death and illness rates related to emissions, smog, and overall pollution. The carcinogens in diesel fuel attack a certain segment of the population far greater than others. Anything to lower the overall death and illness rates is a good idea.
They can Use the Electricity from Windmills at Night for Bright Lights to Shine on Solar Panels band That Solar Electricity can Pump Water Uphill to the Reservoirs with Dams that Produce Power for Everyone!

And put little Windmills next to the Freeways to Capture all of the Moving Air from the Cars Rushing By for even More Free Wind Energy!
llloydfred · 56-60, M
17 years from now, big truck companies and owner operators will be then banned from California. Business Sense: This would be great if some folk set-up freight staging companies that border California (electric pics up from diesel). Some companies are going to do it, with charging stations. " Sold my soul to the company store".
JackMasters · 51-55, M
That doesn't make sense. There's got to be more to it.
Whodunnit · M
Did they happen to explain what racists practices or how it would rectify them, because I'm at a loss to link the two here...
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Whodunnit I can't figure it out either, but since it's commiefornia it seems logical to guess even they can't figure it out
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Lets be honest, they do blow BLACK SMOKE and the trucks as working hard

Banning diesel trucks - how is this going to reduce racism

It's on fire, so conservatives can't imagine why you'd do anything different.
