Climate Change Nazis Now want to Destroy the Scotch Industry

Scotland is famous for the whisky it makes. But to make it, distillers heat the mixture by burning the ancient dried peat — which is matted grass and vegetable matter found in Scotland’s bogs that took centuries to compact into a medium that burns like wood or soft coal. It is this process that gives Scotch its smooth, smoky flavor.

Because it is a natural product of the earth, and because it is burned to distill the whisky, that makes peat a “fossil fuel.” And guess what that means? Yep, it is something that climate nazi's want to ban.

Is it so unreasonable an expectation for the climate change nazi's to settle for windmills and unicorn farts to replace the peat?
SW-User
Is there an actual attempt to sabotage the scotch industry or did you just make that up?

Fossil fuels are non renewable and when burned they emit green house gases that's why they contribute to climate change.
"Climate Change Nazis" want to reduce emissions and try to find alternatives to non renewable energy sources, well cause they can't be our future.
@SW-User The only real tough nut to crack with EVs at this point is cold climates and poorer battery performance.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, Norway has a cold climate and over 80% of its new car sales last year were EVs. Also, battery life is getting better and better and will continue to do so. EVs are here to stay; the conventional car is done :)

I'll bet you anything many of those same climate change nazis drink scotch themselves right after a hard day's marching.

The climate change army stands at the ready to obey Gretler's every command!

And just when you thought the globalists couldn't get any dumber...
@BizSuitStacy They’re not as dumb as they are hungry and rabid for control, power and their way of how the world should be.

This has actually been an issie in whiskwymaking foe a while now, and Scottish distillers have been working to redice thwir use of peat and isw secondhand peat when possible, as well as finding ways to offset the carbon use.
@ItsSteve No doubt they’ll recognize that and adapt, improvise and overcome it. …as they deem fit.
ItsSteve · 46-50, M
@soar2newhighs I mean, that's what they're doing. That's what the real story is about....the whiskey distillers finding a way to get the smokiness of peat without using so much peat or damaging the peat bogs in Scotland.

The problem is, nobody can ever come into these things and actually talk about the story. It's turned into some giant anti-environment rant, and what could be an interesting story about how Scottish distillers are adapting to the new landscape has gotten derailed by rants by people mad that somebody is making them eat bugs or something.

It's really a quite spectacular thing to see.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of Scotch....I'm more of a rum and gin type of person, although there are some Scotch cocktails I've liked.
@ItsSteve Good post. All other things aside I’m pretty confident they’ll work this problem out.

You know theres no end to this madness, right?
And good job proving once again you don't know what a nazi is.

And as always with you clowns "citation needed."

Next up for the climate change fascists is a ban on meat and dairy products. We can eat bugs or Bill Gates' fake meat instead.
ItsSteve · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 Nothing stopping you. Nobody's going to ban meat.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ItsSteve Just like nobody is gonna ban the Washington Redskins?
ItsSteve · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 You're bringing up an entirely different topic and I'm not going to engage with it. Much of these threats are people getting self righteous and upset about things that haven't happened.

This thing started with the false claim that they're planning on outlawing peat in whiskey, and now people are outraged Bill Gates is making them eat bugs.
I don't know about distilleries being forced to not use peat. They have long stopped using peat as fuel. It's too expensive. It's only used for peating for whiskies and scotches. And then again, many many aren't peated.

I do know many distilleries have invested heavily in peat bog conservation. At the level of being committed to their communities. It's the right thing to do for the environment. Bogs are important ecosystems.

But really for their businesses. The peat is running out. Which is a big problem. Peated spirits are probably the best there are. And you can't burn phone books or tires in the place of peat.

So there is a move away from alternatives to peat. I am not sure how true it is, but I've read that Islay peat is becoming extinct. And so there's that. Preservation won't work anymore.
Sporty's outrage machine gets another one WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

We need to get fossil fuel consumption down to about two tons of CO2 per person per year. Nobody is "banning" fossil fuel consumption or CO2 emissions. Whatever you choose to spend your two tons on is fine with me!!

Just stay under two tons of non-renewable CO2 and mind your own damned business!!!
Yes, and 80% of Covid deaths on Biden's watch are among the unvaccinated, who, not so coincidentally, tend to live in Red counties. That's why MAGAism & Covid are so closely intertwined.

@ElwoodBlues Figures don't lie.....but liars figure
@sunsporter1649
Didn't you complain that "THE LEFT" calls anyone they disagree with a Nazi?
@sunsporter1649 But now you're doing the same thing?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@BohemianBabe Yup, still laughing, bestest comedy around watching then
@sunsporter1649 And now you've become the same laughing stock as them. How embarrassing for you.
By Climate Change Nazis I take it you mean everyone in the whole world except for the American Republican. Because you guys are all alone in this mindset.
@sunsporter1649 way to go deflecting to another subject completely off what you posted in the first place.
Do you also want to talk about how Obama borrowed a library book in 1979 and returned it 3 days late?
Major League baseball standings?
Kevin Bacon movies?

Oh and look! You stuck an 'n' in the middle of Democrats and made a new word! How mother****ing clever you are!
Momma can be proud.

@robingoodfellow You brought it up....
@sunsporter1649 wait...looking back.
Nope. I don't see myself bringing the wiping out college debt issue into a climate and pollution argument.
But no worries. I like your bird.
I am sure you think you car runs on magical fairy dust and there are no consequences for anything.

@PatKirby i get that some people are disgusted aboit the idea of eating bugs. My question was more, why are you so worked up about it as in, why do you have some sudden fear about being forced to do it? This thread is about distillers and peat? Somehow its turned into free association about evil environmentalists wanting to make us eat bugs.

I nean, you yourself have called them Nazis and displayed a picture of a teenage girl as Hitler. So where does this freefloating fear and demonization come from?
PatKirby · M
@ItsSteve

So you have no earthly idea?
ItsSteve · 46-50, M
@PatKirby

I have some idea. I think some of it is media driven....I think the media, in order to get watchers, doesn't tend to go in depth on issues, but focuses on fear and outrage, and that's something we're overwhelmed with. On top of that, there's this polarization, both in the media (somebody who watches just Newsmax is hearing different things than somebody who watches just MSNBC) and in society, where everyone on your side is good and right, and what they say gets believed without question, and everyone on the other side is an enemy, wicked, who hates the US, and everything they say is just a lie.

It makes me nervous about the future and what will happen if these trends continue.
SW-User
Yep, well luckily Scotland is taking steps to preserve its peat bogs. You'll have to get your compact smoky flavour from somewhere else 😊

OK, they may have gone a bridge too far.
Folks like their Scotch Whiskey.

Nazis rounded people up and murdered them during the Holocaust. How dare you apply that title to any other group. Incredibly offensive, or do you just not care?
