Trump ally Rep. Scott Perry says FBI seized his cellphone

One day after the raid on former President Donald Trump‘s home, the FBI has seized the cell phone of a Republican member of Congress.

Rep. Scott Perry, Pennsylvania Republican, said in a statement to Fox News that three FBI agents handed him a warrant and demanded his phone.

“This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress,” he said.

Perry is one of multiple GOP Members of Congress who sought a presidential pardon from Trump before Biden's inaugural.

You don't seek a presidential pardon UNLESS you KNOW you've done something ILLEGAL.

Lock him up!
@sunsporter1649 @beckyromero Is Ms Romero from Chicago?
Recently, Citadel has moved from Illinois to Florida; Boeing from Ill to Virginia and Caterpillar from Ill to Texas.
Note any trend here?

Illinois ranked third in the nation for corporate expansion and relocation projects per capita in 2021, according to Site Selection magazine.

The Land of Lincoln finished behind only Texas and Ohio in the influential and data-rich Site Selection website’s annual Governor’s Cup report on economic development nationwide.

Illinois moved up a spot in 2021 to place third with 480 projects that accounted for 21,000 jobs and $3.5 billion in investment last year. It beat out California with 301 projects and North Carolina with 282 projects, which ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
Democrats are turning our country into a fascist dictatorship and half the country is stupid enough to root for it.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@TheSentinel So you have no clue, eh? Why is nobody surprised?
@sunsporter1649 No it isn't that. It's just that there can't be anyone so uninformed that they don't know. But I think you already are well aware of trump's corruption. You just don't care about it.
But if you really are that clueless, I would advise you to do some research on trump before you blindly follow such a corrupt moron. It really makes you look bad.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@TheSentinel Still no clue?
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
If they will blatantly falsify search warrants against a Presidential candidate and now possibly a former President, then a sitting member of Congress- what will they do to average citizens who support them? Where will the 80 billion just approved to double the amount of IRS agents be focused? They are obviously scared of 2022 midterms and the 2024 general.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Carla · 61-69, F
@JesseInTX no, i reckon i dont know what you mean. You said "I don't cheat on my taxes. But as we've seen the federal government can falsify anything. It may not stand up in a court for actual prosecution or even indictment, but they can sure make your life hell in the meantime."
What do you mean other than you will somehow be a target for persecution from the federal government? And why are you worth the time, money and aggravation for said persecution?
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@Carla every one of us who opposes you and your leftist agenda is a target. Why the hell would the administration and Congress think we need as many new IRS that could fill the stands at a major college football stadium? And that 80 billion doesn’t just fund their salaries, it funds the investigations. And it’s not like Biden doesn’t have experience with the IRS investigating political opponents. Again you’re a damn fool.
An action like that would have to be cleared thru the director of the FBI. Some Biden crony, right? Oh, wait, Trump himself appointed Director Wray, LOL!!!

Yeah, we know, sporty, you're gonna immediately respond to bad news about Trump by playing the

I'm starting to think part of this investigation is about Trump's alleged burner phones. Who here honestly believes Trump could have sat thru the whole Jan 6 insurrection without a SINGLE outside electronic communication? Nobody, right? So I think DoJ is closing in on messages sent during Jan 6 from burner phones. That's why they got all those secret service phone numbers; that's why they're getting search warrants for things like Scott Perry's phone here.

And of course the treasure trove of two years worth of texts from Alex Jones' phone might be useful in identifying burner phones too.
@sunsporter1649 Nice attempt to move the goalposts, dude!! Here's your original claim:
The same ny slimes that ignored The Holocaust?
Every quote you've posted continues to prove that original claim wrong, LOL!!!

The raid could be part of a con game. trump is a con man from way back. After losing the election he needs an ace in the hole. The rumor gets started that he took papers that he shouldn't have. That gives his enemies a bone to chew on. Time passes and the hook is set by having one of his kids flip on him with the details of where the stuff is. The FBI takes the bait and raids but all of the evidence is fake. trump the gets to play the victim to the hilt, gets tons of money from his ass-kissers, and gets off to a roaring start on the next election. The Dems get thoroughly discredited.

Now, if trump was a legitimate crook why would he have kept boxes of real evidence in his house all of this time? An idiot would have taken steps to give it to his buddies, the Russians and Israelis.

If the FBI comes up shortdid they get played or were they in on the scam? Either way, they would come out looking like the big losers which could also be one of the aims of the con.

Dress-wearing Hoover would have handled it in his usual way.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@swirlie The beauty of such a con is that it only takes a handful of dedicated people to pull it off. It works best if you can get a reputable person to do the investigation against you. That way when he comes up empty you get to wear the victim crown to the throne.

It's unclear if such a thing is happening now but it could easily be the case.

We'll see what sticks. Of course, if the orange turd actually had a house full of evidence it just shows that he is one of the top two dummies in America in 2022. There's a thousand way split for the #2 spot.

This is getting more dystopian by the minute
@AthrillatheHunt If I was partisan, I'd defend the Democrats no matter what. I'm a Socialist, I think both parties are bad for being capitalist. However, at least the Democrats believe in Democracy, whereas the Republicans are literal Fascists.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@BohemianBoo Yup, we have seen in the past two days the Republicans using nazi tactics on the opposition.

spjennifer · 56-60, T
With a lawfully signed search warrant, the FBI doesn't need to "contact his lawyer", therefor giving him time to delete any evidence, that's why they had a search warrant. He's of course innocent until proven guilty but the FBI usually doesn't obtain search warrants without cause.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@sunsporter1649 About as often as Repugs do, how many of his crooked cronies did tRump pardon?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@spjennifer Not as many as barry big ears
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@sunsporter1649 Indeed, Obama did grant a lot more clemency than tRump and most of those were for people convicted on petty drug charges that got long sentences. tRump pardoned mostly his crooked cronies and not for people who got 20 year sentences for possession of a joint...

It's an investigation people who are being investigated have shit seized even if they might be completely innocent. Funny how its ok when they seize Democrats phones laptops but when it's happening to Republicans suddenly it's tyranny.
You either want fair law and order or you want authoritarianism pick a fucking lane.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Thecollective what you say is true with one exception, the socialist communist democrats are exempt from investigation and prosecution. Why because they are the ones investigating. And nobody supporting their evil plan could be guilty. The dumbass running the country should be in jail. So should Hillary and Bill. Obama was a disgrace. But liberals won't except that. Liberals think that the law only pertains to everybody else, otherwise it isn't there.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Thecollective Which cell phones and laptops have the Republicans seized from elected demonocrats?
Isn't it just TERRIBLE when the FBI goes after a major public figure? Listen to these right-wing pundits' statements from a few years ago:

@Diotrephes Fang Fang, aka Christine Fang, got close to several politicians, especially in the Bay Area, from 2011 to 2015, only to abruptly leave the country as the FBI was closing in. US officials believe China’s Ministry of State Security, its main civilian spy agency, sent her here to collect intelligence and gain influence with up-and-coming politicians.

Since Democrats dominate Bay Area politics, she focused on officials such as Swalwell, starting when he was a Dublin city councilman and continuing after he won election to Congress in 2012. She turned out to have a good eye for talent: The congressman became a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in 2015, getting the lead role in the subcommittee on CIA oversight.

UPDATE : NYT is now reporting that Trump received a subpoena prior to the raid. That would be counter to Dersh's conditional that there was no prior subpoena.
Former President Donald J. Trump received a subpoena this spring in search of documents that federal investigators believed he had failed to turn over earlier in the year, when he returned boxes of material he had improperly taken with him upon moving out of the White House, three people familiar with the matter said.

The existence of the subpoena helps to flesh out the sequence of events that led to the search of Mr. Trump’s Florida home on Monday by F.B.I. agents seeking classified material they believed might still be there, even after efforts by the National Archives and the Justice Department to ensure that it had been returned.

The subpoena suggests that the Justice Department tried methods short of a search warrant to account for the material before taking the politically explosive step of sending F.B.I. agents unannounced to Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s home and members-only club.
