There is enough farmland to feed everybody. If we just ate more vegetables... Like that is going to happen.

@cherokeepatti There's a guy right here on SW who is building and designing an entire city in the desert in Egypt. They are plumbing the aquifer for water.

@4meAndyou I just used my fingers and rubbed a light coating of olive oil on them.

How about greening up deserts and using them for agricultural crops? It’s happening in several parts of the world. Would create plenty of jobs too.

Industrialisation has always been about the concentration of wealth among the few

@cherokeepatti That's true. I have seen 5 acres, owned and farmed by my cousin's husband. It's a tiny farm compared to my grandfather's farm. The ex and I had nearly one acre with a small Cape house and shed, but it was all trees and unusable for very much. Still...I have seen poor homes out west. You have room for the house, the trailer, and a vegetable garden and the chicken coop, and that's about it.

@4meAndyou some people inherit a little property with an old house or whatever. They live a very modest lifestyle but if they want a horse they’ll find a way. They have to know what they are doing or the horse can get foundered from eating the wrong stuff. Funny thing is when people would come to visit us from another state and we lived in the country on a couple of acres they would ask if we had a horse. They have the idea that everyone who lives in the country has a horse or two, hehe. Too much movie-watching.

@cherokeepatti My grandfather had an old Palomino named Babe. I used to feed her watermelon rinds when I was there during the summer. She died one winter of a horse intestinal problem called plug.
