There is enough farmland to feed everybody. If we just ate more vegetables... Like that is going to happen.

@Thevy29 Yes, if they could just create a vegetable that didn't leave you feeling like you were starving 30 minutes after eating...🤣
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@4meAndyou Quinoa and Kale can do that if you eat enough of it... Like F#ck! that stuffs disgusting.
4meAndyou · F
@Thevy29 Quinoa isn't too bad...and Kale is yummy if you boil it with a few slices of bacon...🤣🤣🤣

@Thevy29 actually there is a move to the vertical. growing food in old industrial sites etc, hydroponically. rather than old fashioned horizontal row cropping which has left the soil depleted.
4meAndyou · F
@1490wayb How odd you mention hydroponics. I was just thinking of vertical stacked hydroponic farms inside buildings yesterday. I wondering how high you could go with the weight of the water.
1490wayb · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou im sure there are youtube videos. we now have many greenhouses popping up here rather than row crops.
4meAndyou · F
@1490wayb I prefer hydroponically grown lettuces, because they are now growing crops in sludge, which contains human feces, due to the fertilizer shortages. I have no idea if hydroponics are grown in the fertilizers that are in short supply.

@1490wayb Learned about that recently. Some people here in South Australia bought all the equipment to be assembled and are now growing lettuce and stuff. And some guy in Tasmania has converted an old mine into vertical farming for growing mushrooms.
4meAndyou · F
@Thevy29 Friend of mine from EP used to grow mushrooms. Not the edible kind, unfortunately for his brain...🤣

@4meAndyou John Olinger?
4meAndyou · F
@Thevy29 Nope. His name was Enduser. Really, really crazy.

@Thevy29 In some countries they are turning areas of the deserts back green. Even in the Sahara. There is a process and types of plants that are easier to start out with and I believe they can eventually change the climate in the area if they green up large enough areas. I’ve seen some videos of the areas and they are growing food crops in areas that were desolate before.

@4meAndyou kale is good cut up into smaller pieces, rubbed with a little olive oil, sprinkled with salt and baked….makes good chips.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti I've tried that...always too oily. I shook the chips in a paper bag, but they weren't worth going back into the bag.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti There's a guy right here on SW who is building and designing an entire city in the desert in Egypt. They are plumbing the aquifer for water.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I just used my fingers and rubbed a light coating of olive oil on them.
