I'll preface this by saying my best friend is a straight man. But are you guys okay?

The Secret Service just released a 28-page report. To sum it up; "men who can't get women to have sex with them pose a terroristic threat".

The word for them is Incels - Involuntarily Celibate. Men who can't get women to date them frequently become terrorists. These men believe that are entitled to sex with women and they believe they are entitled to attack and kill women who refuse.

So basically the Secret Service wrote a whole report on what girls learned by 12... A little addendum; in 2022, Japanese schools are still banning ponytails because they could "sexually excite men". Do men really have so little self-control? At what point do we stop blaming women?
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F Best Comment
Three articles where men who identify as or are described as incels....have killed or planned to kill women who rejected them in some way.

Incel is more than being involuntarily celibate. It is about hating women because of some perceived slight on them as men. If a womam rejects them it is not because of them..but because of her. Or so they believe
...
They claim some very disturbing things and have large echo chambers where they converse online.

This isn't about it being the fault of women. It is about men who can't control themselves. I think you misinterpret the indications that are being made.

Living their lives online together in forums creates a very dangerous echo chamber, too. Have you seen what they post about? The entitlement is strong.

When an animal in he wild is standing at its tallest, baring its teeth and ready to attack, that's not a stance of predatory cunning. It's fear and survival instinct, nothing more.

When two men found each other millennia ago, partnership and cooperation were born. The very minute a third made it onto the scene, rivalries, alliances and power struggles became inevitable. Because man is a physically stronger species, he became physically dominant. Physical dominance can lead to control on all levels.

Fast forward a few centuries and we have societies wherein men, still encoded with the instinctive fear from his hominid ancestors, is every day standing on his hind legs shouting at his loudest volume, all to show intimidation through abject fear. 10,000 years ago we did it with hierarchical roles; we still do that, but we also lace subjugation though our laws, our policies and procedures, our storytelling, our division of duties. And men have done this so well, so thoroughly and for so long that they can get the very women affected by this positioning to defend it.

And of course, like any respectable ne'er do well, they find it easier to blame others for what they know is bad behavior than to do an searching inventory resulting in shared power and opportunity.

When we stop worshipping everything that least makes a man a real man, maybe it'll be easier to legislate sanely, keep the disenfranchised from extremist organizations and create sound and egalitarian legislation. Until then, there's no reason men can't live by the same codes of decent conduct and executive thinking skills as women.

Hahahaha!!!!!
I used to have to share a lunch break with a woman who would talk at me about feminism, about how the fact I dye my hair and wear makeup makes me a sexual slave to men. Everyday she would find something about my appearance to get up on her soap box.

She’s a woman. And I blame her.

"You know nothing about my life" Waaaaaaa. Poor widdle baby... Well, we know you're a troll.

You are sadly mistaken. I, along with so many SW members, look forward to Graylight's contributions to this site. She's brilliant, clever, insightful, confident, kind, a champion of diversity, and hilarious.

And then there's you... "go eat a bag of dicks". You express yourself in ignorant, juvenile, rash, rude, inflammatory, and emotional attacks. You're like a yappy little chihuahua. We laugh at your incompetence.

@ShellSeeker That's not how this works. You don't get to say offensive crap and not have people call you on it. Telling people to scroll on is unrealistic.
First off, I haven't read the report and am not familiar with it. I would agree that incels are a problem. However, I wouldn't go so far as to call them a terrorist threat. The only one that comes to mind is Elliott Rodgers, who killed several of his fellow students that he referred to as "Chads" and "Stacys." Otherwise, most mass killings in the U.S. have not been perpetrated by men I would consider incels. The man who killed several Asian women in Atlanta a year ago apparently came from a hyper-religious background, and seems to have fetishized that group.

I do think that this frustration may be an element in why young men from Muslim backgrounds may be drawn to ISIS or al Qaeda or other groups that emphasize purity and misogyny. It's possible that American groups like the Proud Boys, Patriot Prayer, Oath Keepers, Three Percenters and similar ones draw at least some of their membership from disaffected young men who turn to those groups as an outlet for their frustration. It also explains Jordan Peterson's popularity, with his "men are orderly, women are chaotic," and "LGBT people don't actually exist."

As for the Japanese schools banning ponytails, that doesn't surprise me. Patriarchal cultures tend to blame women for "exciting" men. When I lived in a country that was almost entirely Muslim, I was told that women were expected to pray at the back of the mosque to avoid exciting men with their rear ends. That same mentality appears in the U.S. when the police ask a rape victim "what were you wearing?"

We have to be careful not to engage in accusing anyone of thoughtcrime. There are many young men who at some point in their development may consider themselves to be incels (or may be thought of as such by others). Most of them grow out of this. Demonizing them by telling them that they're potential terrorist will only feed into their existing feelings of persecution and may paradoxically encourage them to engage in violence they otherwise might not have considered.
@Randi1125 I don't mean to excuse that kind of thinking. Of course men aren't entitled to have their way with women, and women don't exist for men's pleasure. I suppose a report like this is the first step in admitting that there is a problem. I'm just not sure what the solution is. Several times, I've been in conversations with young men who expressed frustration at not having female attention. I've asked if they've considered dating a disabled girl or a fat girl or one they don't consider attractive, and some of them say no woman is interested in them. So the problem is with them, personally, and not "society." Even a lonely woman who considers herself undesirable is going to be turned off by a man who comes across as desperate, or worse, acts like he's doing her a favor by paying attention to her.

One solution might be to de-stigmatize sex work. If a man is frustrated, he should be able to hire a prostitute. But the guys who need this are also the most resistant to the idea, as if paying a woman for sex is admitting failure. But changing society's attitude toward sex work would definitely help.

pssst... i love reading your comments

disabled girl or a fat girl or one they don't consider attractive
no, just no
@Randi1125 I mentioned that because many of these guys think they’re entitled to date a supermodel. They have an overly high opinion of themselves. So of course when they approach a woman who isn’t a supermodel with the attitude “you should be grateful I’m talking to you,” that’s a turnoff.

I’m basing this on women I’ve talked to and Instagram and TikTok accounts I follow where this comes up.
KiwiDan · 31-35, M
When you're bombarded with cultural and societal ideas of being "lesser" because you can't get laid, combined with loneliness and seeing what seems like everyone around you seeming to have no difficulty with something you fail at seemingly no matter what for what feels like no reason at all, and with mental illness on top of all of that, it's a recipe for disaster.

I'm not defending those people, but relaying what things have felt like to me in going through this stuff. Your mindset becomes so warped that you want others to suffer the way you do, especially those you (wrongly) see as causing the issue in the first place.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
Irony is, it's male led cultures that tell males that they can't control themselves around women. I wouldn't even think a ponytail would do that to a man but apparently men believe that of themselves since they obviously just accept these laws quite literally.

Back to the original post, believe it or not this isn't that surprising to me. I've seen, been around and heard of a few men who were like this "type." The problem isn't that they're "males," it's because they perceived being wronged by society and when you do that, comes entitlement. Entitlement comes victimhood and then comes anger and lashing out particularly when they find groups who will give them full permission to "take it out" on the general populace, then it becomes codependent and toxic. I'm really not surprised.

I'm also glad that those in authority have taken notice to these types of males as they're growing.
Randi1125 · 31-35, F
@SatanBurger

You are absolutely correct. This horror is basically caused by all the responsibility being put on men (by men). It’s a patriarchal power tradition. When women said this years ago, they were told they were overreacting and making "generalizations”. The entitlement men have towards women's bodies is DANGEROUS.

As a mostly straight man, I find that whole incel thing totally weird. If you can't get a woman to go out with you, there are sex workers. If you can't afford a sex worker, learn to pleasure yourself. If you're lonely, there are so many lonely people on line to talk to and connect with. I just don't get it.
Randi1125 · 31-35, F
@SW-User

It's not for us to understand. But it's happening every day, everywhere to women. And yet somehow, women are to blame.
SW-User
@Randi1125 Obviously women are not to blame. And if somehow we could understand where those guys are coming from, maybe we could intervene somehow.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
It's right that these Incels are seen as dangerous and deviant because they are nothing to do with most men. Most men do not think that way, nor should they. Incels are warped and twisted individuals.

this whole male/female dichotomy is about ready to be retired in favor of something new. women do not know how to let a guy down easy. not every male is a rapist. the ones who are seem to be living it up, though. like Deshaun Watson, for example.

Excuse me? I'm referencing the one that was published on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. "Secret Service report points to rising 'incel' threats"
"A new Secret Service report focuses on the rise of terrorist threats toward women from males who refer to themselves as "incels."

I saw the headline on CBS, and was curious about it. It seems as if one media service, after the next, copied something that may have appeared on CNN, but did not quote it properly.

If you look at the CBS short video, it shows the report I posted the link to, from 2020. Not one of these media blurbs have an actual link to the report. I included the link in my comment.

Yes, I see that. I'm trying to find where the Secret Service just released a report citing the crossover between white supremacists and incels and how they're becoming more violent.

"The point is that not all men who can't get a date, turn to mass murder. If that were the case, we there would be no one alive in the Silicon Valley, and a good part of King County, Washington, would be nothing but mass graves."
