Do republicans admit there is *any* racism anymore?

I'm not talking about how they crow on and on about whites being the victims of "racism". But geez, there could be the most blatant act of racism and they will justify it away. Yeah, those on the left may claim racism where it really isn't, but those on the right act like NOTHING is racist.

I think the problem is, people hear the word racism bound around and feel as though it's a personal affront towards their character.

The truth is, there can be systemic racism where none of the people within said system are in fact racist. I think that's what we're talking about a lot of the time - not explicit KKK white power no-blacks-in-the-swimming-pool kinda racism; more, there's behaviours ingrained in an institution, perhaps the police force for instance, that might unfairly discriminate minorities where that wasn't the intention.

People lose the nuance when they hear the word racism and feel as though they're being singled out. Perhaps the word is overused or rarely used in the right context, I don't know.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@SW-User Exactly. Unfortunately nuance is lost on most everything these days, not just when racism is mentioned. Systemic racism is NOT saying that given laws or processes were designed and passed by racists, but that the systems -- for unforeseen reasons -- disproportionately impact minorities. Such as making the penalties for crack cocaine several times more severe than for cocaine use because crack was seen as a more pervasive problem because cocaine usage among affluent whites was much more hidden. Or redlining of loan applications which in purely economic terms makes sense (the collateral is less risky for the lender), but it just locks communities and neighborhoods into death spirals along racial lines. And Critical Race Theory looks at unintended systemic problems that continually reinforce underlying biases; it isn't about accusing individuals or institutions intentional racists.

@SW-User Racism is not only about calling people hateful names to their faces. It also exists in the mothers crossing the road with their kids to avoid a black man; it exists in the boss who casually flicks a CV into the bin because the name sounds foreign. It exists everywhere, sadly, it's just very subtle sometimes.

Racism is a belief system held by some people that think their Race is better than someone from another race.
They also believe race plays a role in a person ability to do a job well not what they look like.

Bigot is a word that describes a people who are prejudice based on Color, Race, what they look like and how they dress. Bigot can be any Color and Race. Someone that is a Bigot Rely's on putting down others and discriminating against them based on race.

Someone can Prejudice of another race

Racist is not the same as Bigot.
Racism comes from the word Racialism do not rely on putting another race down they hold a belief that they are better in some way...
If someone is a Racist wouldn't that mean they are promoting their own race? A Racist is a type of Nationalist.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
It's the same in the UK. Conservatives basically argue from a position that society is colour blind or that there is racism against whites because of excessive political correctness.

It's bollocks.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It's sad that this has become associated with Conservatism, but it has... and globally. Rather than acknowledge a problem that needs correction or an issue that needs to be addressed, they simply fantasize the problem or issue does not exist. It's the worst possible behaviour that adults of any stripe could exhibit. It's basically a sign of a lack of education.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@OtkCouple Possibly, but you can say that about a whole host of words and terms including, "MsDNC," "fake news," "witch hunt," and so on. The thing is, the people who use that as an excuse for turning a blind's eye to actual racism have most likely been searching for some way to minimize something they prefer to fantasize doesn't exist.
OtkCouple · 41-45, C
@MarkPaul I never Claimed, insinuated or otherwise that Racism doesn't exist instead what I was referring to when The People that love this Country challenge your agenda driven political narratives You instinctively accuse them of racism on cue is exactly what you did Thank you for proving my point.
Everything and Everyone in our lives has some bias also some discrimination yeah it sucks Americans strive to
to improve their lives and the people around them... Grow Up MarkPaul
Americans are not Bigot's Almost all Americans are from somewhere else...
very few are indigenous

MarkPaul, Are you a bigot?

Do you have enough experience and wisdom to comment on real life issues
There is only one race the Human race. They are diverse ethnicity a host of nationalities with their own customs and we are all Proud To be an American

You used the same punch line twice That Racism is "something they prefer to fantasize doesn't exist" in the same thread
Talk about living in Fantasy you are reaching claiming you know that anyone using certain terms like "Fake News" & "MsDNC" somehow is "turning a blind'd eye to actual racism"

Do you have an example of Overt deliberate action you could offer up as proof of actual racism?

Do you think that the people trying to immigrate to this Country crossing dangerous deserts and crossing oceans are somehow defective, uninformed maybe lost? 120 thousand afghans left everything they know along with tens of thousands of Haitian, with over 2 million Central Americans and alike don't forget about....The 1 Billion people on the waiting list for the chance to come to this country do you think they are stupid? Because according to you why would they be coming to our country full of racism.
Do you think there's less racism from where they came from? Maybe you should go there.

Name a Country that has less Racism than the United States.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@OtkCouple See if you can synthesize this into a shorter, more coherent, and crisper commentary. From what I was able to gather you seem highly defensive even though I never established that I was specifically talking about you or calling you out. Do you ordinarily feel guilty about generalized critiques? Be honest.

Is racism a contest for you? If there is a country with more or less racism than another one does that make racism okay for you?

How many of the “true conservatives “, the non RINO republicans of today would have supported the civil rights bills of the mid sixties?
(Waits for sunsporter to say “Lincoln was a Republican “🙄

@SW-User I had forgotten the “don’t borgard that joint”. 😊. Oh I know how ridiculous he is, but he is so relentless it does become fun to mock him.

I am a racist, I watch all the races I can on television, especially NASCAR.

SW-User
It's very noticeable that people who hold racist views are always the first to angrily deny that there is any racism whatsoever (at least that's what they do here in the UK) and that everyone is equal.

Strangely enough, those same people are also deathly afraid of becoming minorities in their own country...

We do know Biden is a racist. He wouldn’t send his kids to a racially mixed school, he called it a jungle. He said if you’re black and vote for Trump you’re not black. He said blacks have no culture.
Driver2 · M
@BobbieT that’s a typical democrat way of thinking
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
The arguments on here are contradictory against the OP.

Racism is a myth promoted by the left and also a real thing because its done by the left.

Which is it?
I think some do. My mother identifies/votes republican but is also very aware of and an advocate against systemic racism. As an executive in her industry she sees it all the time and does her best to shine a spotlight on the "Good ol' Boys" clubs and their bullshjt.
They might concede that black conservatives face racism—but they think it only comes from the left.

@DancesForJabba no justice
No pizza
Sure. Democrats get called racist all the time by people that identify themselves as Republicans.

It's like of like "you're the puppet."
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
You're still stuck on Racism? Not even an Average person is dumb enough to even point out anybody representive
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
No. They're the same kind of denialists as slave owners who swore they loved their slaves.
PetePiper · M
Of course there's racism. Where would the Dems be without it?

It depends on whether they can get away with it.

I know a few who believe that white people are the victims of racism now. That there is an overcorrection and they white people do not get jobs because companies are trying to meet racial diversity quotas.

I do not believe it. But I've heard it said many a time among my lately conservative family.
