Critical of President Biden Being Slow In the Last Four Days in Getting Our Afghan Allies to Safety? Just Keep In Mind Trump Had Four YEARS To Do So.

QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
I’m still not sure what exactly people expected Biden to do - reinvade?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649

The political uproar of Americans calling in to networks saying they are stranded will DEMAND a U.S. military response. No if, ands or butts about it.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@beckyromero Since when do the demonocrats give a whit about the wishes of the American people? I missed that memo
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@sunsporter1649

There are plenty of non-Democrats who think we should pull out of Afghanistan.

The trouble with many of these people is they want it both ways.

They want us and our allies out safely but aren't willing to use our military to make sure it happens.

(As you know, I opposed our military withdrawal.)
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Hidin' Insurrectionist Baby-trump never intended get the Afghan Allies out. His plan was to leave them in place, in harm's way like he did with Mike Pence.

@LvChris Good point... and Rudy.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@LvChris Let’s face it, we were always going to leave the Kurds hanging. Anything else is a practical impossibility.
Slade · 56-60, M
You can toss all your hack clichés and stupid theories all around but at the end of the day Joe Biden is allegedly the president and Joe Biden is responsible for what’s happening right now.

The end.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Slade

The U.S. economy grew at an annualized rate of 6.5% in the second quarter. The figure marked the second-largest jump in gross domestic product since 2003.

He gets full credit for that, too, I suppose.
Slade · 56-60, M
@beckyromero Gee, reopening after being artificially shut down had zero to do with that, right?

C'mon, that was totally mendacious, be better than that.

You're not dealing with an idiot or a kneejerk liberal here, I don't live by emotional reactions. I will look beyond the surface and WILL call out all deceit and mendacity
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Slade

You're the one who said...
The president... is responsible for what’s happening right now.
If you want to look at things in absolute, then deal with it.
And Obummer had 8.
@whowasthatmaskedman That's great, but it ignores the historical reasons for the two-party system. There are also significant differences between the two parties. If Hillary Clinton had won in 2016, we wouldn't have Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett on the Supreme Court. We'd have a 6-3 liberal majority, with no concern that abortion would be outlawed or our voting rights trampled.

Multiple parties tend to thrive in parliamentary systems like in Europe and Israel, and give more power to fringe groups. Imagine if the only way the Republicans could gain power was to form a coalition with an anarchist party that opposed government regulation, but also wanted to disband all police forces. Or the Democrats had to ally with a Christian party that supported free universal health care, but was also fanatically anti-abortion. Imagine if elections depended on which side a radical vegan group joined.

No thanks, I'll take the two party system as long as the minority party doesn't change the law to give themselves a permanent advantage.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom Thats always the risk you take. But I think the polarization in America comes from the amount of money that goes into campaigns and where that money comes from. The NRA is an obvious target. But one of many. Get the donations out of the game and more rational politics would stand a chance.
@whowasthatmaskedman We need to overturn Citizens United, but there's no chance of that happening with the current Supreme Court.
doong · 56-60, M
And Obama 8 years. Especially it is in Obama's era Bin Laden caught and shot dead. He should've pull out.

But the truth is, GW. Bush shouldn't even landed there first.
doong · 56-60, M
@beckyromero GW Bush is indeed the real one to Blame.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@beckyromero If Trump had been re-elected, we’d still be there.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
How long did Obama have ?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@spjennifer

I was in favor of the Iraq War because Saddam Hussein was defying terms of the cease fire agreement that ending the Gulf War of 1990-91.

I STILL think it was the right thing to do.

I just think the prosecution of the war and how we handled the aftermath was poor. And for that, yes Bush was president, but Cheney, Powell and Bremer screwed up.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@beckyromero Well, Bush using the nonexistent WMD's as an excuse wasn't good is what I meant, that was a total sham.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@spjennifer

Just interfering with the weapons inspectors was good enough.

The Bush administration got in trouble when they felt like they needed to sell the idea more than they needed to.
And no American affiliates were killed in over 18 months, 🤔, & Trump had arranged an agreement, but now American affiliates are being killed again, but refugees from Kabul don't need covid testing 😉, you folks got way more than a screw loose, supporting the premiere jackals of modern history.
@QuixoticSoul ok, what is your actual point?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@checkoutanytime Point is, what you’re asking can’t be done. So we will do the logical thing, test them on arrival, and quarantine anyone that needs it.
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔........Well, you think the plan would be to get all the American people out and then the Afghan people that helped the military and then once everyone is safely out of the country, then the military will packup and withdraw from the country. Nope, it happened in reverse.....What a Cluster Fuck....
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Twenty years ago a mission that took two years was embarked upon. Considering Bin Laden was in Pakistan we could even question that two years run was needed. What certainly wasnt needed was to shuffle the deck on the entire society which in the process, for better or worse, was disrupted, 😷
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@whowasthatmaskedman

Foch actually felt the Treaty was too lenient on Germany. I agree on that point.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@beckyromero I disagree. Not about the leniency per se.. But leaving a wounded lion on your doorstep is never a good idea, while the means to devastate an entire nation the way it was done to Germany and Japan 30 years later did not then exist. You either bury the hatchet, or bury the nation permanently.😷
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@whowasthatmaskedman

It didn't have to be about devastating Germany.
Marshal Foch’s oft-cited quote about the treaty being only “a 20 year armistice” is flagrantly misleading when presented out of context, as it often is. Foch was not criticizing the treaty as being too hard on Germany but was actually making the opposite point – that it was not punitive enough. He was lamenting that the treaty did not ensure that Germany’s armed forces and strategic position were permanently weakened, principally through perpetual French occupation of the Rhineland.
https://www.historynet.com/failed-peace-treaty-versailles-1919.htm

In fact, some aspects of the Treaty weren't even enforced!

And then later? Allowing Germany to rebuild it's navy? Especially submarines?

Training a military force in excess of what was allowed in the treaty?

I could go on, but I'm sure you know.
And with obama biden had eight years. What's your point?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@SooperSarah
Obama was having way too much fun with his drones
And in killing Osama bin Laden, as well.
@beckyromero and he only had to lunch airstrikes and military raids into seven countries to do it.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@SooperSarah

I think if Bush had a third-term he would have gotten bin Laden, too.
Faith13praise · 51-55, M
if you want to look at it that way he had 8 with Obama, however, Trump did not try for 4 years, had other priorities. No, this is not to support Trump, just for some truth. Both suck TBH
tindrummer · M
trumpistas would have screamed about potential bin ladens flooding in
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@tindrummer

They already are. Marjorie Taylor Greene and others.
Slade · 56-60, M
@beckyromero Yeah that's irrational. You should'nt ever scrutinize thousands of anonymous interlopers from ground zero of Jihad and fanaticism.

What could possibly go wrong
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Slade

Get them out first.

Worry about scrutinizing them later.

@beckyromero Send her to Afghanistan and see what the Taleban do to her.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@thedarkside

Or how about what she would do to them?
@beckyromero We both know what she will be doing for them.
