Why are the left majorly the ones that disrespect Martin Luther King's memory?

I remember during the BLM protests for George Floyd last year, there were rioters and looters during the period. Everytime any person who was against the rioting would bring up the fact that MLK peacefully protested, usually a member of the left will respond "Well, look what happened to him."

Are you implying that only the ones that commit no violence whatsoever are the ones that end up being killed in the end? I'm sorry, but have any of you ever heard of a man named John Brown? A radical abolitionist who used violence to liberate slaves? It's not like he had much a better result in the end.... 馃檮

MLK famously called riots the 'language of the unheard'.

These days he is seen as a secular saint but in his time he was seen as a controversial and divisive character, merely for being black and agitating for change. Obviously, he was much less militant than - say - Malcolm X but he certainly wasn't someone who white conservatives and centrists saw as acceptable, as they claim they do now.

Dr. King was supported by the African American community, by the white radical left of America and pretty much nobody else. When he died, his approval rating was minus 75%.

He was, however, on the right side of history.

So the very people who invoke his name to criticize the BLM movement, are the very people who would have called him an ungrateful subversive half a century ago. It's typical of Conservatives (and some centrists) to always support progressive causes from the past but always be against the current ones.

[@494950,sunsporter1649] of course, you are limited to one line responses as opposed to presenting cogent arguments that actually have evidence.

Are you paid for intellectually bereft one liners?

[@761112,deadgerbil] Maybe Soros pays him to make the Trumpian right look bad? Actually, this would make a lot more sense than some of the other conspiracies.

The left like to twist things in order to fit their agenda.
Martin Luther preached peaceful protests...and a dream that would end in all men and women being judged by the content of their character, and not the color of their skin. Equality was what he sought, not equity, where we are always trying to pay people back for this and that and the other thing...with no end in sight.

The dreams of Martin Luther King no longer satisfy the people who are bent on destroying this nation.

Marxist BLM FOUNDATION, (which is different from BLM), is allied with antifa to create chaos, and destruction, in this country, and all over the world, in order to achieve what is called the great re-set. One of the DA's assistants in California, actually said, during the riots after the George Floyd murder, "It's the great re-set. Burn it down!"

The great re-set is not possible without re-creating the rabid racism of the past, and the American people have actually forgotten how to be racist in that these Marxist want to indoctrinate our kids in school to BECOME more racist.

It's sick, and it's sad, and it won't end well.

MLK believed rioting was a natural result of injustice.
Everything conservatives say about BLM today was also said about the civil rights movement. Conservatives claimed it was nothing but rioting and looting.

You guys use the same argument any time people fight for civil liberties.
And by the way, I'm 100% against rioting, looting, and any illegal activity. However, I recognize that most BLM marches have been peaceful. You're just pretending it's a violent movement in order to discredit it, like y'all did with the civil rights movement.
PrincessAwesome18-21, F
[@494950,sunsporter1649] Nice try, but I didn't say there were NO violent riots. I said most of them have been peaceful. Like the conservatives of the sixties, you're only focusing on the few violent protests in order to discredit the entire movement. Fashies never change.

The 鈥渞acist right鈥 certainly has no respect whatsoever for MLK鈥檚 legacy. They鈥檙e the ones waving confederate battle flags now. I remember when he was assassinated and they were waving those flags in celebration. So they鈥檙e hypocrites. And of course we remember John Brown. Nat Turner, too.
[@328496,bijouxbroussard] it's pretty amusing how they waive the confederate flag yet try to play hot potato with racial hate groups like the kkk or neo Nazis.

They are in heavy denial about their pretty bad relationship and history with race
MickRogers26-30, M
[@328496,bijouxbroussard] I'm just pointing out the "Look what happened to him" is an illogical talking point.

People who have led violent revolutions have ended up dying or being executed in the end.
[@1203326,JasonBrody] That happens to people who fight for their own freedom and for that of others. Even by non-violent means. It鈥檚 illogical that right-wingers pretend to respect MLK when they don鈥檛 respect non-violence under any other circumstances. On January 6, they were certainly armed.

You remember everything, except the attempted coup.
sunsporter164970-79, M
[@763897,Harriet03] You mean this attempted coup?
Graylight46-50, F
Okay, first of all, Narcissus, it's not the left who has ever said 'and look what happened to him.' In fact, I've never heard anyone say that.

There were some rioters mixed in with peaceful demonstrators and protesters. Rioters don't factor in to the vehicle of social change. They're simply the vent for the anger of those protesting. They are not the same, they should not be treated as the same thing, and honestly, this is really grade school stuff.

this guy got it right
DavidT889918-21, M
Because BLM and other such Marxist organizations DONT CARE about the legacy of Martin Luther King-their actual goal is to accumulate personal power at any cost.
Stopmakingsense56-60, F
[@1079947,Davidstar2004] so you're leading the fight against inequality for King?
DavidT889918-21, M
[@1201621,MotherHubbard] Im not leading the anything for anyone.Im simply pointing out the lies and hypocrisy of organizations like BLM.
Stopmakingsense56-60, F
Let's be clear- nothing short of an anti capitalist, anti colonialist paradigm shift will do.

You would have to show the assorted YouTubes on that.

I am calling your bluff.
they disrespect everyone
GhostPoncho46-50, M
The right demagogues looting, and the left rationalizes it. I prefer to do neither.
By any means nessasary.
