I think it’s a misconception that he’s manufactured this fear of the other or of being overrun. For a myriad of reasons, demographics have been shifting away from a white majority, and people in the red areas don’t need Trump or any other politician to point this out to them. For anecdotal purposes, I’ll talk about the small town in Ohio where I grew up. Like many other towns in middle America, this town has had a sort of soft segregation where there had been a “black neighborhood” for years. The town was probably about 95%-5% white-to-black when I left in 1989. Over the last 30 years, a Hispanic community slowly emerged in that town. It’s only about 3% of the entire town’s population, but when the number had been 0%, the locals (including members of my family who seem to talk about it regularly when I go home) have noticed.
All these tiny towns have seen a small but noticeable shift in their communities, and it’s created a slow-boiling irrational anxiety that they’re being overrun. Now comes along a loudmouthed presidential candidate whose brash persona they know and trust based solely on having seen him play this character on their televisions for decades. This candidate finds that raw nerve of anxiety, and he pokes and prods it to the point that he cultivates it into a base of supporters foaming at the mouth over the “invasion”/“infestation” that they already believe is happening. Trump didn’t necessarily make them fear being overrun; he just exacerbated it and then exploited it. His strategy obviously worked considering where he’s sitting.

@SW-User So he exposed their fears and validated them. 🙂

He has to keep fueling it. It’s like a locomotive that constantly needs coal shoveled into it. The problem I see is that he’s actually getting help from the subset of Democrats who say they want to decriminalize illegal border crossings. The Democrats who advocate for that may as well grab a shovel and dig in right beside him, because that’s the sort of thing that Trump can easily point out to his base. It plays right into his hands and energizes his base while simultaneously turning off moderates who feel that completely decriminalizing border crossings is going too far the other direction. @Fernie

It’s the narrative that liberal outlets push... that’s for sure.
But no.
We just want a few things that liberals want to take away:
Personal freedom
Financial freedom
More economic opportunities
More jobs
Most conservatives support an idea. Not a character.
Liberals want to convince you that those ideas are racist.
Because liberals are racist. That’s why they see everything in racist terms and are always injecting a controversy of race or gender or whatever into every topic.
He who smelt it, dealt it.

And you lost the 2020 election.
Try something different than willful self-imposed victimization. @Zonuss

@GardenSage This is not about victimization. This is about justice. And the walls of the Trump empire will surely fall down. Win or lose. 🙂

Some people in Trump’s base think this way or have always thought this way. And he plays into what they want. His statement about wanting more immigrants from Norway and less immigrants from sh*t-hole countries is a perfect example.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@SW-User Yes. Donald Trump is a walking disaster. 🙂

You are giving Trump more credit than he deserves. He's not that powerful. No single human is. The power goes the other way, the plebs empowering their political proxies. So Trump is just a reflection of identity issues already fermenting in the culture.
I'm just going to talk about the giant neon green elephant making sparks in the middle of the room.
The demographics of American society are changing. Part of that is the demographics of this hemisphere. White people are increasingly the minority, and increasingly not the most important thing going on.
Part of that is American society itself. Minorities are increasingly present and participating in government. They are defining and influencing culture. This congressional junior class is pushing on many white people's buttons.
The big question for white Americans is whether their struggles are because Jesus came to American illegally to pick strawberries... or if their struggles are because Khaled brought his family from Syria and runs a gyro counter while he sends his daughter to college.... or if their struggles are because their government from top to bottom has fucked them.

@SW-User Truth is Obama was the last straw for people who follow the Nationalist ideology. 🙂
SW-User
Hence Trump’s clearly racist birtherism idiocy gained traction and found an all too willing audience.
After all, Obama obviously couldn’t be one of us, so he had to be from somewhere other than America. 🙄 @Zonuss

@SW-User You're right about that. But it's the "priming" that is the big mind fuck. They were primed to beat their chests over the wrong "enemy." They've ended up supporting their real enemy. For quite a while now.

Trump is basically using Hatred to be President of the supposed Land of the Free.

Why anybody listens to anything that idiot trump says is beyond me
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@SW-User Well if you were White and felt like you were being discriminated in a world that is being saturated with people of color wouldn't you. 🙂

@Zonuss I am white and thankfully I don't live in USA under trump
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It's what "the base" thinks, but they didn't learn it from Baby-trump. He is just manipulating them by telling them what they enjoy hearing. That's his "secret recipe" for being a cult leader. It's what every cult leader does. It's what every cult base wants.
If you have an exact quote of him saying this country is for whites only, please provide the source and audio/video. I'm white, don't nor ever have I felt privileged, nor felt I was entitled. As for his base, you can't paint with a broad brush, as everyone in his base do not think, react the same to him in this regard.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@soar2newhighs I can post some videos of him and other Republican saying racist things. You are not that dumb are you. 🙂
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
It is about dividing the working class and convince the working class that other groups of workers are the problem not the system that makes them fight each other like gladiators. They have been betrayed by the liberal class that seduced them and then sold them out. The left unfortunately is doing a dismal job presenting a counter narrative.

Schools, the safety of the children is the priority, and all city offices will be closed also on Monday 9/16/2019, in anticipation of Trumps rally in Rio Rancho NM*. He visited Albuquerque in 2016 and the violent protests made National News. They didn't stop him from coming back again.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And with that being said the Right has done an even worse job.
Trump only ran as a Republican so he could have a chance to compete. But he is by no means a GOP man. He is using and manipulating the Republican Party for his own personal gain.
Two Bush Presidents and nothing to show for it. I think you need to start being logical for a change. Because the Democrats are tired of cleaning up your mess. 🙂

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Twitter deletes 'death threat' by Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain made to Beto O'Rourke,
"My Ar-15 is ready for you Robert Francis."
"My Ar-15 is ready for you Robert Francis."
I think he's made it more popular and acceptable at least. I wouldn't give him credit for inventing it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
Well, personally, I think you are an idiot without any understanding of people in general and certainly Trump.
I know the left has tried mightily to make various groups feel guilty about one thing or another. Your nonsense about 'white privilege' being one of them.
I don't feel the least bit shamed about being white. I don't have feelings about anyones race really. That's a democrat thing. You know, they;re the ones that get all upset if you say "all lives matter' for example.
And, where are you getting this crap about diversity being wrong?
Is that yet another purposeful misrepresentation of what was really meant or said?
I'll tell you something Zone - posts like this do more harm to racial relations than you might think. It comes across like you want to pick a fight with Whitey. And, I wish you would stop it.

Actually Louis Farrakhan is telling Blacks that they are to blame for their own problems....

@Zonuss Because Charleston is a big city

@MarmeeMarch No. Its because all Blacks do not think or act the same. At your age you have yet to realize this. 🙂

@Zonuss At my age LOL

I think main stream media is controlling the narrative. I think there is an agenda being pushed on people. I think it will all come to a head soon. The results won't be pretty.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@Zonuss perhaps you don't agree with what I see. So we'll leave it at that.

@TheunderdogofNY but....you DON'T see dear

@Fernie I suppose from your point of view I don't. Fair enough.
