For real though. Does trump's behaviour not frighten you? Does it not make you worry after the future of democracy in the US?

He's deliberately encouraged anger and distrust of foreigners and minorities as a scapegoat for america's problems. He appoints his cronies to positions of power and HE LABELS THE FREE PRESS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!

Like, do you think that fascism couldn't happen in the states? Do you think that these other countries just woke up one day and decided to be ruled by fascists? No, it happens in stages. We need to be vigilant to protect our freedom.

I feel like all too many people are applauding as trump and his ilk erode the foundational concepts on which america stands.
TheProphet · M
Why would it? He's doing exactly what I want him too.
@MarmeeMarch

I think if you're the first people there then you're native.
@Pikachu idk
@Pikachu It really doesn't matter, it just a stupid label - First - Native - Immigrant-- Non Native
SW-User
It seems a bit like history repeats itself in some ways. Nationalism appears to never really lead to anything good based on what the past has shown us, but it's unfortunately what a decent amount of Americans seem to want. 🤷‍♂️
SW-User
@MarmeeMarch Wow! My points seem to have flown over your head, like I assumed they would, and you'd have nothing of real substance to reply with to change my opinion but personal attacks. So there appears to be no point in continuing talk or listen to a person of your stature as you offer nothing of value to the discussion. 🤷‍♂️

Where did I ever deny the fact that those presidents were Democratic, and why does it matter that they were in control at the time of those wars? I don't see the point you're trying to make other than you think the Democratic party is an abomination. 🤔

Interestingly, I'm not even liberal, I'm just a centrist who understands that Trump and Hillary both were terrible choices for presidency. One of them won and is causing terrible problems to fester and grow. Haha xD

It's probs best you do go back to your post, before you get in trouble and potentially lose your precious account here due to harassment of a user here. Which of course is against ToS. 🤷‍♂️
@SW-User How soon we forget -
Not when it'll lead to a much higher risk of war and terrible relations with other nations. Much like how a major cause for the first World War is due to nationalism.
You were the one that started babbling about your paranoid feeling about nationalism and war. And you are just disjointed that I pointed out one simple facet thats all. I am not harassing anyone here and if you want go ahead and report me I have so many many many valid submitted reports that SW has received. Just make sure you include that you called me dumb in the first place. Oh woe is me !!! I will be reported - go ahead ! do your best.
@SW-User And one thing please do not contact me or reply to any of my posts - You are not welcome on mine.
I was brought up to place my faith and confidence in principles, institutions, and the American people themselves. As such I was raised to believe that collectively Americans themselves were the moral authority for the country and its source of vision.

I guess, truthfully, Trump doesn't worry me.

What worries me is how so many people have put total trust in Trump. Not Trump the executive of said principles and institutions. But Trump the man.

That worries me.

Now any criticism of the administration's policies is an attack on Trump the man. And any attack on Trump the man amounts to being anti-American, anti-Christian and un-patriotic.

It's not new. There was a bit of that authoritarian spirit under Obama. But now we're up to our balls in it.

So now we go from... So what's up with that raking the forrest nonsense?... or... I'm not sure about these Saudis to-- You hate Trump and America!

That's about as unhealthy as it gets. And that's on us, not Trump.
"When I was a boy and I saw scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people helping."
Fred(Mr.)Rogers

Something that trump doesn't understand or appreciate, neither does "HIS" base supporters it seems, is "The Kindness of Strangers". THAT is Who we are.

The most powerful Nation on the planet in the history of mankind, one of the wealthiest and most generous.

He has an insatiable ego and everything is about HIM not the people who he leads.

Excellent point. Politics based solely on personality is bad. @CopperCicada
@CopperCicada

Yeah that's a bit worrying too. It's one thing to think he's doing good for the country but to be so devoted to the man himself? I mean, he's a fairly objectively contemptible person whether you like what he's doing or not. And yet i have literally heard people describe his presidency as ordained by god and his embarrassing boasts of "biggest/best _____ in history" admired because he speaks his mind.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Our Grandchildren will read about the rise of fascism in the 21 century. I don't think democracy itself, or even the Republic is in imminent peril yet, but we're far from done, and I think things are going to get far uglier as long as Trump is in office.

We'll see, when the subpoenas start coming out, when Mueller issues more indictments and a report, how he reacts, and how Congress and the courts react.
@jackjjackson I hope that's the way it comes down.

Pardons like Arpaio and Libby are really not that big of a deal, but pardoning people for crimes that benefit the President directly, especially self pardons or pardons to the President's own family really do threaten the legitimacy of the Presidency and the long term stability of the government.

If Trump's amorality, self interest and unbridled tolerance for unethical conduct in pursuit of Trump is just a one off, its a shame, but in the long run, the damage is minimal, sort of like Clinton and Lewinsky.

But if the precedent gets set that the President is above the law and the use of pardon power becomes an acceptable means of self protection, it's going to hurt us a lot more.
@MistyCee Keeping hearing about these investigations ever sence the election - must be one hell of an investigation.
@MarmeeMarch Compared to Watergate or Whitewater, the Mueller investigation seems like a baby at this point, tbh.

Of course, I'm kind of hoping its over before it hits puberty as well.

Reality took a leave of absence. Yesterday, as the Argentinian President took the stage, to invite the other world leaders onstage for a group photo, the first was Trump, who got on stage, looking very confused, and then to the astonishment of the Argentinian President, trump wandered off the stage.

Not the first time this happens, or the second, or the third...

In 2018, we got closer. Need to focus on 2020.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
Some one is buying into the media narrative a little too much. And honestly would the left come back to reality and realize that this country was never a democracy but a constitutional republic?
But you’re grand idea of this scapegoating isn’t that far from the truth. Could he actually be a little more diplomatic and softer in his language yes but there’s a time and place for that.
Now let’s point out some bs here what do msnbc cbs cnn and most “news” organizations have in common? .......
the all lean left sometimes very hard left. The vast majority of the people in the United States are actual centrist or centrist leaning conservatives with some hardcore individuals mixed in you have the mob rule antifa types you have Marxist die hard conservatives and arnarchal capatilists and everyone else falls in the middle somewhere. However, is trump attacking the constitution like the previous administration? Did he run on fundamental change of this country? Nope and nope that was Obama’s grand scheme. The left tosses the world fascist and fascism around with out actual understanding what it means. Not realizing that the militant wing of your party is the actual fascists antifa, blm, new black panther party, traditionally the ku klux klan, have all been voting democrat. But because hitting a 70+ year old man in the head with a bike lock and pepper spraying someone for voicing a different opinion is acceptable because it’s your side it’s ok? That’s the definition of what you say you’re fighting.

I don't understand all the hand wringing and angst. There will be another Election in less than 2 years. Get behind a candidate that has a better plan better ideas engage in an active Manor. Our democracy is not at risk as we can easily see from this recent midterm election. I think what will be written about in the future is the Trump Hatred Syndrome

So here are some of Trump's tweets:
Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!
-Closing the border U.S./ Mexico border permanently would do serious damage to America's economy since the U.S. rely heavily on trade from Mexico. It would also encourage migrants who seek asylum which is the legal way attempt to enter the U.S. illegally. Via smuggling.
Mississippi, Vote for @cindyhydesmith on Tuesday. Respected by all. We need her in Washington!. Thanks!
Cindy Smith is the candidate who after receiving praise from a cattle rancher commented “If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row.” This is who Trump supported to win the Mississippi election.

https://www.sunherald.com/news/politics-government/election/article221512315.html
The White House is running very smoothly and the results for our Nation are obviously very good. We are the envy of the world. But anytime I even think about making changes, the FAKE NEWS MEDIA goes crazy, always seeking to make us look as bad as possible! Very dishonest!
-Various White House staff members have either left or been fired from the White House. So... And with how the nation is doing, the Dow down, the soybean trade with China going down 94% because of the tariff war, and General motor shutting down a few plants and laying of it's workers up north as well as the jobs that we once had being moved over seas, I don't see how the Nation is doing good right now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trump also suggested creating a U.S. worldwide network to compete with CNN. Pretty much a state run propaganda network that talks about the great things Trump has done and leaving out the bad.
