For real though. Does trump's behaviour not frighten you? Does it not make you worry after the future of democracy in the US?

He's deliberately encouraged anger and distrust of foreigners and minorities as a scapegoat for america's problems. He appoints his cronies to positions of power and HE LABELS THE FREE PRESS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!

Like, do you think that fascism couldn't happen in the states? Do you think that these other countries just woke up one day and decided to be ruled by fascists? No, it happens in stages. We need to be vigilant to protect our freedom.

I feel like all too many people are applauding as trump and his ilk erode the foundational concepts on which america stands.

It seems a bit like history repeats itself in some ways. Nationalism appears to never really lead to anything good based on what the past has shown us, but it's unfortunately what a decent amount of Americans seem to want. 🤷‍♂️
TheProphet · M
@SW-User Nationalism is good for America.
@SW-User

I think you're right but i don't think many of them realize that that's what they're cheering for.

@TheProphet People who think Nationalism is good are bad for America and the civilised world
TheProphet · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Not at all. It brings Pride back to America.
SW-User
@TheProphet Not when it'll lead to a much higher risk of war and terrible relations with other nations. Much like how a major cause for the first World War is due to nationalism. Oh and the second one as well. Perhaps the third one will be the result of America's current foreign policy and relations with other superpowers. That's a war I refuse to fight for America in.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User That's fine if that's what comes. Wouldn't expect you to be Patriotic.
SW-User
@Pikachu I believe it's in large part due to their belief that America is the greatest and most powerful nation - which granted America is pretty much the most powerful currently and among the greatest places to live - and they're just afraid of the possibility of not being the greatest in world.
SW-User
@TheProphet There's a difference between being patriotic and being a nationalist.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User We are the greatest Nation the World has ever seen.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User Nationalists are Patriots.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@TheProphet A belief that your nation should stand for good is one thing, your willingness to support that is one thing. Your belief that your nation right or wrong makes you superior to any other living being is wrong.
TheProphet · M
@whowasthatmaskedman No it isn't wrong. We are the greatest and strongest and our will will prevail.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@TheProphet Quantify that statement
SW-User
@TheProphet And because of your belief in that we have the right to treat foreign powers like shit until we get the best side of a deal from them? Not a good way to do things.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User That's right. We will get what we want.
SW-User
@whowasthatmaskedman Plus, if you really think about it, we just spend more money than anyone else on stuff. 🤷‍♂️ It's interesting that despite how much more money we spend on something like healthcare or college than every other nation, it's still about average in terms of quality. Pretty sad.
SW-User
@TheProphet That's a bit like what the Nazis sounded like before the second World War. Same as the Japanese during that time. Unfortunate.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User The difference is we have the resources, they didn't. Secondly we aren't looking to expand.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User Thats an economic and political argument not for this question. But none of that stuff is rocket science. Its just counter to the winner take all culture so many Americans were raised with. The thing that made America great was the people undivided. The lesson has been forgotten in a grab for wealth and status.
SW-User
@TheProphet So you are for Fascism and the expulsion of a minority group (in this case Latinos/Hispanics) based on what you're inferring? Jeez.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User I am for closing our borders and deporting all 11 million illegals.
SW-User
@TheProphet While I do agree on entering our country illegally is the wrong way to enter, I don't think spending money on a concrete wall is justified for it. Besides, don't those who try to enter legally still deserve the right to do so?
TheProphet · M
@SW-User Visit yes, immigrate no. No more immigrants or refugees.
SW-User
@TheProphet Is that because you are perhaps afraid of becoming a racial minority? Why should that matter?
TheProphet · M
@SW-User So our country doesn't end up a 3rd. world shit hole too.
