Most the critters I like . I actually restrained myself from blasting the biggest rattle snake I have ever seen , but instead called my farmer who likes to catch venomous snakes and collect and sell their venom . His wife isn’t too keen on it but she does like the money . Had he not been able to come out I would have shot it . Saw lots of deer and Turkey , lots of birds

@UnderLockDown He had a professor he helped in undergrad and learned how . He buys beakers, collects under a vent hood to prevent contamination , has an autoclave and can only collect in sterile vessels with sterile latex covers , and then store it a certain temp . He gets a lot because he has quite a collection of snakes and has a couple of partners that do a lot of the collection s. He catches the snakes and has the facilities to keep them .

Birds especially yeah. Sometimes when I’d be working out in the yard raking up certain spots a robin will come and sit on the wooden fence and watch and wait till it can swoop down and look for bugs and worms to eat. And there are birds like the brown thrashers that like to fly down in the yard and they are pretty calm and we’ll stare at each other awhile.

@cherokeepatti Sometimes, on my walk, I can hear a cardinal making that "Tick, tick" noise. When I snap my fingers a few times, on occasion, they fly near me like they are returning my greeting.

@ProfessorPlum77 maybe I should try that. I haven’t seen many mockingbirds this summer and I don’t know why only a few have returned this year. About 10 years ago the males would hang out on top of the roofs, sometimes one facing each way watching for cats or squirrels to swoop down on and chase out of the neighborhood. I did hear some singing in the spring but the last 2-3 months not so much. I always love to listen to the mockingbirds sing and watch them fly up and then land on top of the tree and sing some more. I also love listening to cardinals and bluejays and house wrens.

I like birds that aren’t pigeons. (Pigeons are strange)
But I had a hummingbird approach me while I was working the other day. It tried to land on some equipment while I was holding the stuff, and I felt all chosen and flattered. 😂
