Dogs keep leaving dead things at the door.

Small things like lizards, turtles, birds, but the snake today was bothering. Wish they would stop.😒

I remember a job I was on. I was chopping weeds and there were about 3 different occasions where I ran into a lizard just laying there. Typically a lizard will just run if you approach. I tried shoeing them away and they wouldn't even move. I literally had to pick these wild animals up and put them somewhere out of the way to finish my work. I've never seen animals behave like that before or since. I have no explanation for it, it wasn't cold so they weren't stiff or anything so the couldn't move. It was just an ordinary day.

I had a labrador he brought me a snapping turtle one time the turtle was snapping trying to bite him i kept saying put it down. He also brought me a jawbone it had numbers written on it, i never found out where it came from . He got out of the yard and was roaming the neighborhood.

I've never heard of dogs doing that. I've heard cats will when they think you don't eat enough.

@dirge someone said they are gifts. So that's nice I guess.

You're lucky, cats bring that stuff in still alive and let it loose in the house when you open the door! And they look so proud when they do it...

@GerOttman sounds horrible
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@WowwGirl it's one way to liven up a boring evening
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@GerOttman I bet
I had a cat leave a perfectly decapitated pigeon on my doorstep. There was just the headless corpse and a little pool of blood. Other than that, dead rats and a fox left a dead game bird of some description. Oh, and the back end of a squirrel. Just the back legs and tail.

@UBotMate We had a bunny head by the front door one morning...

It is because they love you and want to impress you! Kind of like that guy bringing you a three Carrot Diamond ring or new car!
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@WillaKissing awwwww
It's either they want to return you something in favour of what you did for them. Or they just want to show you that they are hunted those birds, lizards, turtles and want you to keep them to the doc

Oh my gosh that sounds terrible!
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@realraregem54 it's not good
And I thought only cats did that. I guess they want recognition for their hunting prowess
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@BiasForAction they are horrible hunters which is sad. A squirrel will never happen
@WowwGirl ha! My dog once caught a squirrel and was so excited. The squirrel simply played dead and my dog put it down. The squirrel then jumped up and ran up a tree. Dogs aren’t the smartest hunters …

@BiasForAction true lol
