I saw my dog eat a whole turtle once 😭 It was the first and only time I'd ever seen him kill anything. It happened super fast, there was no way I could have saved the turtle. 😔
I won't go into detail - it was awful - but my daughter's in-laws were dogsitting their puppy Tank when Tank drank some insect repellant that was in an open plastic tub.
It took him three days to die.

@JimboSaturn Not sure. It took a couple of hours and then she got real lethargic and drooly. She slept for 12 hours straight and when I would check on her she would blink and duck like things were flying at her...I was freaking out and afraid I would come check on her and she would be dead...
...researched the issue and found that based on the amount she consumed and her weight, she should be ok.
And she was the next morning...but I felt terrible about it.😐
She recovered ok though. Never left that stuff on the table anymore though...
@JimboSaturn In high school, I got my dog stoned and he did the same thing. Ran around the house non stop for 1/2 - 1hr...........First and last time I got any of my dogs stoned.........
One time I moved a snail from the path and put it on wall so noone would tread on it. He must have thought it was biscuit cause he wolfed it down, shell and all.

Raw bread dough. It’s a serious problem. Yeast produces alcohol which dogs cannot metabolize so it becomes poisonous. She had to have her stomach pumped and she was seriously sick for a few days.
Thankfully my current dog doesn't typically eat bad/weird things and has a pretty decent obedience to thrle 'drop' and 'leave it' commands.
Worst was a decapitated mouse head the cats had left in the livingroom.
Previous dog was kinda naughty and he would eat and shit out whole toddler socks. His worst was when he got into the garbage can and ate the turkey giblets bag after it had been sitting in a bag 80+F degree heat all day. He got so sick he was coughing in between his lurching. I think he almost didn't make it that night.
My parents had a dog when I was a baby that ate a light bulb and not one but TWO furnace filters.
All 3 dogs mentioned are/were husky mixes.
My kid's dad had a lab when I met him. He went out of town and his best friend dogsat and the dog ate a whole French Silk pie. The dog was still sick when he got back home at the end of the weekend. I remember she lied on the cool fireplace hearth and just groaned with her big bloated belly. Poor thing. I was always asked to be dog sitter after that.
One dog ate two completely frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts (I don't know how such a little dog managed it), not gross but they were so cold, it froze her belly and she was cowering after.
We had a German Shepherd that grabbed a whole raw chicken out the grocery bag as we were unloading the groceries onto the deck. He ran around to the back of the house and we never found the chicken, he must have hidden it. It was in a plastic bag too

Never had a dog, but I had a hamster who ate all 3 of its babies in one night once.
A small bottle of 2 stroke oil...well he chewed it up, not sure how much he ingested but his joints were lubricated 😅and his bum hurt when he passed the pieces of plastic bottle
Dogs have great noses but VERY poor senses of taste...so they are always eating things which they should NOT (if unattended), and--consequently--they can be often vomiting or having diarrhea.
Oh poo is gross but mine are special. They like plastic and foam,rubber mats,wooden pallets. All of which their inside decide needs back out on floor in the house.....yuck
@Applepiedom they sell them at pet shops but there are loads of types of anti chew spray on Amazon almost always bitter apple based, totally harmless but dogs hate the taste and smell.
