Yes. There's ways to help people and questions you can ask for understanding instead of judging them then commenting.
it could be a joke
like your insecure, what would make it worse?
being told youre insecure.

Without knowing the whole story, I would guess that this could either be a way of making you aware that you may be acting in a way that shows you are insecure and they are unable to deal with the depth of your emotions, and intensity of your behavior, or it could be a controlling measure to shut down behavior they don't like in you. In any event, it is judgmental behavior in the person saying you are too insecure. However, as I said, I don't know the whole story. Just know that you have a right to be who you are and feel however you feel without others telling you not to. 🤗

It probably depends on the context. For example, a loved one saying, "you’re too insecure—but if you don’t take chances you can’t succeed" is probably trying to be encouraging.

I think so. I had an ex girlfriend tell me that, but I think it was a cover up for what she was doing behind my back. In fact, I know it was without question.

It depends on how, when, and why they said it.
If they said it right after you made some self-defeating comment it is probably not meant to be insulting but helpful.

@CelticRose 🤔suppose it is in the way it is expressed when said if it is meant as an obserservation or an insult
beetlebumdont · 26-30, F
Provocation or just a person on a spectrum

Would depend on the context of the rest of the conversation

Usually they are trying to get you to accept some kind of abuse they want to normalize.
