In parts of the world an introduction and the common civilities still matter a good deal!

They are an acknowledgement of a fellow human being and their are so many people who have no clue about this, no understanding, they just want to pander to their particular foibles without being in any way affable to others. They really are not the type of people who will do well in life, I think, and perhaps it is a lack of simple manners and empathy for others that holds them back in life.

What do you, dear reader, think?

I think the world can appear that way when you are depressed. I'm sensitive, and I learned the only way to guide myself through this world is to give myself to whomever I'm with. If I didn't learn that, I'd feel more alone and cynical of this world. Of course, etiquette will matter as it's respect to another person, but I think the simple act of wanting to see another person's joy is more.
@awildsheepschase Agreed. This. Yes.

Unfortunately, except in unusual situations, i agree. "We" have losing our ability to interact in person, preferring to use texting. Interestingly, we just watched a swimming meet that my 6 year old granddaughter competed in. At the end of the race, she shook hands with her competitor. That team is teaching etiquette over success! I am so pleased and surprised.
As someone who was basically raised this way, full agreement. How do we take the reins back?
...
Rallies and protests won't do, sweetheart.

I've listened, I've heard, I've been the shoulder, I've burdened, it's time we take our burden and weaponize it against what holds back as a society.

@Amyrakunejo In theory, no... but it will become one. I thank I'm Canadian, but I am watching Americans basically put a rudderless lass as leader because they desperately need one.

Where are you?
@awildsheepschase
A puppet is more factual, but, toh-may-toh, toh-mah-toh.

In the worst possible place; KanSUCKS. I'm not here 'cuz I wanna be...
@Amyrakunejo I'm illustrating in a vacuum something needs to fill a void.

I prefer your want.

This sounds about right. Many parts of society have become coarse, abrasive, selfish. Manners and decency smooth the rough edges and build friendships and relationships. What is “society” without these?
@Darin99branch Divided States, to name one part...
(shivers) I want out...BUT IT'S NOT AS EASILY DONE AS JUST SAYING.
