In parts of the world an introduction and the common civilities still matter a good deal!

They are an acknowledgement of a fellow human being and their are so many people who have no clue about this, no understanding, they just want to pander to their particular foibles without being in any way affable to others. They really are not the type of people who will do well in life, I think, and perhaps it is a lack of simple manners and empathy for others that holds them back in life.

What do you, dear reader, think?

I think the world can appear that way when you are depressed. I'm sensitive, and I learned the only way to guide myself through this world is to give myself to whomever I'm with. If I didn't learn that, I'd feel more alone and cynical of this world. Of course, etiquette will matter as it's respect to another person, but I think the simple act of wanting to see another person's joy is more.
@awildsheepschase Agreed. This. Yes.
