Why is it so hard for people to just be a genuine friend? Why when someone messages you, 9 times out of 10 there's an adult ulterior motive behind it?

You gotta know who you let in. And then take it from there I guess.

There are some that I’ve met here who would really just want to be friends.

I’ve had enduring friendships here. But they are few. Maybe you need to clear from the outset.

I don't really understand it either. What happened to just wanting to know other people with zero expectations? It's too much work to build any kind of relationship off ulterior motives and I don't have time for that.

In this age and life, it's a blessing to even meet a genuine person, let alone a lifelong friend.

Because many seek friendship for what it gives them, not for what it asks of their character!.
