Yes. I worked in the manned space program for years, but I love the discoveries that the telescopes and probes have made and continue to make.

@DrawntoaDistance You know what? THAT is the truth!
@MarmeeMarch yeah but even a cheap cell phone has a better camera than some security cams. My phone was $50 and takes clearer videos.

@DrawntoaDistance so we need to put billions of dollars into each security camera? Brilliant! 😀

didya see the famous french astronomer and his slice of chorizo last week? 😂
Pfuzylogic · M
The pictures are generated by infrared light, very similar in concept to a heat signature on military weapons.
Yes, very much! Seeing the first photo blew my mind.
TheDisciplinarian · 61-69, M
Nahh..
Pic on the Left is Better..lol
In a way though..Hubble was Better
For at that time... we Didn't have the Knowledge and Expiration
As we do Now
Hubble Lead the way
Now..
We know and understand how to better use such technology
So Now...
We can Gather far more Detail and those Knowledge then ever before

I think this is very cool. I am an amateur astronomer, with a small telescope of my own. The views, and the promise of future views, from Webb are utterly mind boggling.
CestManan · 46-50, F
They will probably discover that some mass is hurling towards the earth and decide we need to wear helmets.
Anything they discover they say "The planet is really doomed this time."

Love the photos, not so sure about the name since Webb has been widely reported to have been complicit in the State Department's purge of homosexual individuals from the federal workforce.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
We already know that there are many billion trillion Zillions of planets, stars up there.
EvilEmily · F
@TheOrionbeltseeker yeah this isnt about the numbers... but we might gain some knowledge about movements and insight into this whole dark matter thing
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@EvilEmily Yes, we are inching closer towards the existence of God.
Gusman · 61-69, M
We have been waiting for a long time for this next generation telescope.
We are going to learn so much more about the universe.

Do you think maybe they should have kept the picture exposure for more time? Who knows what more we could have seen?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
it does give one thoughts about the probability of other life forms, and how small we are.
Coppercoil · M
I still prefer a pitch black room and remote viewing. No distance is out of reach.
