i used to go to clearwater beach alot cause i had a grandfather there. when we would drive by beaches at night or near dusk even, the 16-18 year olds would be there with Daddy's muscle car on the beach literally. i was a kid but i would always say they were gonna get stuck doing that.

Why on earth were they driving on the beach in the first place?

Would be quite funny if it got washed away by the tide 馃槉

@SunshineGirl Only that would risk putting oil, petrol and antifreeze in the water.

Such people drive onto or along beaches only because they are too idle to walk from the nearest car-park, they do not care about the beach and its rightful users, they do not care about the damage to their cars and are too stupid anyway to recognise the hazards; and because whichever authority is supposed to look after the beach does nothing to stop them!
SunshineGirl36-40, F
@ArishMell That's true, but I'd still like to see the look on its owner's face 馃槈

A beach should be a haven for children where they can play freely without fear of being knocked down or getting oil on their skin. Driving on a beach is so selfish and anti-social.
ArishMell70-79, M
@SunshineGirl Even more so if his antics collected quite an audience taking photos of him and his trapped car! And when he realises the likely costs of being such a selfish idiot.

I agree - the beach is not the place for a car, and any car on the beach has been taken there deliberately.

The only powered vehicles that should be there are as I have seen: tractors towing big rakes to clear litter and washed-up, dead seaweed from the sand.

And even apart from moronic "motorists", it is very sad that so many people show how much they have appreciated the sand and sea (or the countryside, come to that) by leaving their litter all over the place. I wonder if they are as squalid in their homes?

Yep, couple of yes ago I went to a music festival in a mountainous area and someone in a BMW was going down this one road with some rocks in it and he bottomed out on two rocks............Everyone was laughing and calling him an idiot........

I bet he doesn't have a shovel or stuff to help him out of that..
ArishMell70-79, M
@Thevy29 I think he'd need more than a shovel. And some sense drumming into him.

Unless someone with a suitable vehicle was too naively kind enough to tow his car out, I expect the recovery fee was quite stiff!
Thevy2941-45, M
@ArishMell Could be worse. I went to the beach today and arrived just as a tractor was towing an Audi v10 supercar out the sand. I don't know exactly what make it was but it sure looked expensive.
ArishMell70-79, M
@Thevy29 You'd think someone who can afford a car like that, does so by having the nous to develop a high-flying career (over-?) paying him enough!

Evidently not, at least not when it comes to any practical knowledge and common-sense!

I did that once showing off to a date. Needless to say, ifor some reason I never saw her again.

Did you help him out?
ArishMell70-79, M
@JPWhoo I wouldn't even I had the means.

As he had deliberately driven onto a beach that no-one should use as a car-park, I'd want him pay for professional recovery, cleaning, and for any later repairs resulting from the highly-abrasive sand or corrosive salt.

Apart from not risking my own car, the wait for the recovery and all the costs might make him realise his own stupidity and selfishness.

I'd offer help to a motorist stuck by for example, sliding off a patch of black ice, or bogged when rain turns a rural show car-park field soft. That is a different matter. Though he might have been more careful in icy conditions, both are accidental. Driving onto a seaside-resort beach, is not.
