yes i think it is a diversion. the Dems havea lot to lose if that is published. I think that is what Trump is hoping for...they push and get exposed
friendlykinkster · 56-60, M
@akindheart Both parties have a lot to lose. As well as Hollywood and others in entertainment industry. Somebody(organization) that has more power than Trump is calling the shots.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@friendlykinkster yes you are right...mea culpa. i think the CIA is involved too

Trump has chickened out on and delayed most of his tariffs. To claim they are working is a bit of a stretch.
Stock market has been at all time highs since Obama was in office, except for that little covid window. But also keep in mind that the stock market is mostly a signal of rich people's feelings and rich people are being given huge tax cuts. So why would they be feeling bad yet?
Trump's authoritarianism and violation of civic rights have been talked about already but nobody on the right cares.
The only reason the Dems are talking about the Epstein files so much is because it's the only thing that Trump seems able to do wrong out of his massive list of failings that people on the right even remotely care about.
It's not that there are no valid criticisms against Trump. It's that the right doesn't give enough of a shit about reality to pay attention to those other criticisms.

To name a few. Due process is a limitation on government action, not a protection only for full citizens. The violation of due process is a violation of civic rights.

What actually is Trump doing?
He's making love more expensive for Americans through tariffs and the depreciation of the dollar, trade deals?... Nothing concrete yet, just frameworks for the trade deals... And we're still waiting for Mexico's big cheque ;)

@Convivial Duck the tariffs, buy American, support the American worker
Convivial · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 I agree... The problem is many if not most of your corporations moved manufacturing off shore so they could make more money.... Some of it may come back but if so it certainly won't be this year.... Or the next

I think it is what is known in the trade as "being hoisted by one's own petard" (© W. Shakespeare).
After years of stoking a massive conspiracy theory against his opponents, Trump has quite literally lost the plot.

@DogMan I think Biz has that backwards. All my searches say Senate REPUBLICANS blocked the Democrats' resolutions demanding release of the Epstein documents.
Likewise, a week ago in the House,
Sorry, the coverups are all on the R side of the aisle. Oh, wait, I've got it.
July 24 2025 — Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) tried a second time Thursday to pass his Jeffrey Epstein resolution to formally demand the release of documents from the Justice Department. But he was again shot down by Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.).
Likewise, a week ago in the House,
July 22, 2025 — Speaker Mike Johnson said that he would adjourn the House until September to avoid a vote on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Sorry, the coverups are all on the R side of the aisle. Oh, wait, I've got it.
Mullin called on the department to release “all credible information” ...
You can see the problem. That leaves it up to tRump appointees to decide what is "credible." Sorry, I don't trust them to do that, and you shouldn't either.

@Kwek00 Thanks!! I found the relevant details and what was being left out by biz.
Sen. Ruben Gallego (D) twice introduced resolutions to release ALL the Epstein material. After that, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R) offered a resolution to “all credible information,” thus leaving up to tRump appointees to edit the files before release. Not the same thing at all; please inform biz of what she forgot to mention.
Mullin's stated intention is to give tRump cover!!

“I’m sure this would be handled just like any other thing [the Democrats] have tried to go after like the baseless impeachments. Or the bases—baseless special counsels. Or the unbelievable amount of charges they tried to file against the president,” Mullin said while objecting to Gallego’s resolution. “I’m sure this would be handled the exact same way. What we’re simply wanting to do here, is give [Trump] cover.”

It doesn't seem to be the left that is talking about Epstein the most.

@DogMan Actually, the President does NOT give orders to the DoJ on specific cases. At least, that's the way the system was designed and worked until tRump took office.
Also, let's not forget the ability of tRumpsters to ignore and deny evidence against tRump. You folks ignored and denied the 34 NYC falsifying business records felony, and the seven slates of false electors, and the find 11,000 votes felony.
If Biden had released anything, you guys would have said what tRump recently indicated -- that tRump's name was planted in them. You're only taking the Epstein files seriously because the tRump campaign made promises.

@ElwoodBlues Senate Democrats voted down a resolution to release the Epstein files. And an Obama appointed judge blocked the release of Epstein's grand jury testimony.
