Recent developments in Syria

The Syrian rebels overran most of Aleppo this weekend. Not much is said about current western support given to Syrian rebels, but we can be sure they are still heavily supported by US and UK. The CIA helped the rebels with a number of operations in the past. They probably helped them with this operation. Until US and Israel stop interfering in the Middle East, there will be war in the Middle East. It is up to Iran and Syria how they govern their countries. Turkey should back off too.

That part of the world has seen roughly 5 thousand years of conflict, but somehow I remain confident that >This< is the year we achieve lasting peace in the middle east! I know, I'm just a glass half full guy I guess...

Ummmm.... Suuuure, If you say so!

@GerOttman You are right. The Middle East is an important region and it has seen many wars over thousands of years. It is ancient and has seen many empires. When Islam came to exist, Muslims had wars with other Muslims, and they fought for the Middle East to be Islamic. Millions have died through brutal wars in these lands. The Muslims don't want there to be a Jewish state in the Middle East, but the Jewish state also wants to dominate the Middle East and keeps killing everyone. They can't accept that you cannot undo thousands of years of having nothing and being no one. How can you suddenly rule the Middle East when it was Muslims ruling it for centuries? What is wrong with the likes of Assad? Why can't they leave Iran and Syria alone?

but we can be sure they are still heavily supported by US and UK

No, they are not. The Syrian rebels, mostly tuck in limbo for years, have been mostly supported by Turkey.

They are Islamist, but not the ISIS type.

The Kurdish neighborhoods have been taken over by Kurdish militias (they get equipment from the US and other western sources).

The rebels stayed clear of the Christian sections of Aleppo.

So, NO, the west did not help the rebels.

Until US and Israel stop interfering in the Middle East

You're aware that Israel is right smack in the middle of the Middle East, right?

Not to be a stickler for details, but you're aware that Iran share no border with Syrian, right?

@Northwest The US has 900–1000 troops in Syria. What are they doing in Syria if there is no involvement from US? This is like setting a house on fire and denying any responsibility. You cannot set a house on fire and run away, claiming you have nothing to do with it. Syria would not be ablaze were it not for intervention from United States. They say Trump ended the covert CIA program to arm and train Syrian rebels. When he left office, they probably secretly started it again.

I did not say Palestine originated from the Romans. I said the Romans renamed the land Palestine. They did this after second armed revolt in Judea. You need to read what I write carefully, instead of misreading and making faulty assumptions. Your arrogance probably makes you slip up a lot, doesn't it?

“The current state of Israel is a 20th century creation. Same as ALL Middle Eastern countries. But you don't seem to understand that. The abnormality is that there is no State off Israel, side by side with a State of Palestine.”

Palestine had hundreds of thousands of Arabs living in it, most of whom were expelled when the plan to divide the land failed and they wanted to build more homes for Jews. Israel was a revival project. The other countries in the Middle East were not revived, and the demographics did not change. Lebanon changed somewhat as many of them were Christian and now there are only 30% or so left. What else changed in the other countries? They were still Muslim. Israel is the only nation in the Middle East where the majority is not Muslim. Prior to the mid 20th century, this was not the case. This was how it had been in Palestine since the 13th century. The US was very interested in helping Israel become a state, which is why it pushed for it to happen. Israel is apparently useful to the Deep State. It is important for them to have a state in the Middle East. Mossad works with CIA and helps them spy on other nations and cause trouble in other nations.

“Iran, however, reacted by hardening up the Mullahs grip on power, and affirming their plan to accept nothing sort of total control of Shiite Islam over Jerusalem and all of Israel and Palestine.”

Iran does not like Israel and does what it can to respond to the hostile actions of Israel, but they know they can't take over Jerusalem. You are deluded if you think the Iranians believe this can be achieved. All they do is get angry about how Muslims are being treated by Israel, Israel meddling, and Israel dominating the region.

@emiliya Look dude, I am humoring you here. You're not a 22-25F. You're some guy, a rebel without a clue.

Here's a clue moron: when Israel, France and the UK attacked the Suez canal, President Eisenhower put the US military on alert, and told these three countries that if they did not pull out immediately, the US would expel them by force, and he was ready to do it.

This was based on a promise by Nasser to keep the canal neutral. Nasser lied and one of his biographers says he bragged about how easy it was to like to the Americans.

When the 1967 war started, Israel did not a single weapon from the US.

When Israel started its nuclear weapon, President Kennedy tried to kill it, same with Johnson, but the Israelis did it working jointly with the French.

NONE of the countries in the Middle East were countries and while there hundreds of thousands of Christians and Muslims living in Palestine, they had no say in the situation. Egypt, Syria and Iraq decided that there will be no Israel, so they asked the people to eave temporarily. Those who did not come back, those who stayed, became Israeli citizens in the new state.

America trying to do to Syria and Georgia, exactly what they did in Ukraine, overthrow the leader they don’t want, and put one in place, they do want, that will do Americas bidding. Same old playbook
@ididntknow Russia backs Assad so we’re not about to oust him. Obama tried but that failed. The Russians also have military forces in Syria.

@jshm2 he is dumping money and military assets to Ukraine. The funny thing is that they the US or Ukraine can’t account for all of it.
Under Obama rebels were supported. If that has stopped, then the U.S. needs to get out of Syria. We may have a few hundred there. Get them out.

@soar2newhighs
Under Obama rebels were supported.

No. The Obama administration pursued a strategy of enabling a "secular" opposition, trained, helped with recruiting, and financed them. They could not, however, recruit more than a few days people. They fizzled fast.

The US is not involved in supporting these rebels.

We may have a few hundred there. Get them out.

Trump semi stationed US troops in the oil region of Syria, because he wanted the US to get the oil. Putin positioned his army and mercenaries, next to the US troops. Under Biden we kept these troops to make sure the Kurdish region is protected.
emiliya · 22-25, F
@soar2newhighs US has around 1000 troops in Syria. This “surprise” rebel advance has CIA written all over it.
Cierzo · M
Terrorists, not rebels
Not much is said about it because there is nothing to say about it thats true.

"But we can be sure"....... ??? So.....total guesswork. Made up.......based on what you "guess" is true. Hmmmmm.
The entire middle east is trying to erradicate Israel, they have every right to defend themselves and strike back.
