What are some of the things your long ago ancestors likely never did?

I'll start - - - Your many times great grandmother probably never wrote up a weekly grocery list which included junk food like potato chips and diet pop, AAA batteries, frozen fish sticks...

Pretty close to everything I do. Otoh, they did things I have never had to deal with which I am forever grateful: leaving homelands, cultures, families, languages that were familiar to sail to a new land; fight in a Revolutionary War for their independence; be abolitionists in a slave state; move west into the new territories; survive the Great Chicago Fire; fight in the Civil War and WWII. . .the list goes on, but you get the drift.

No, my granny and great granny had a huge garden with chickens and a goat. We always ate healthy.
@Wiseacre

Healthy is wayyyyyyyyy over-rated. I needs syrup, soda pop and salt to function at my best. 🤤

EDIT

I'm joking. I think you know that :D
My ancestors probably never sent emails with attached photos of their travels to other family members in realtime.

And they probably didn't put their stainless steel kitchen knives thru the dishwasher on a regular basis.

And they probably didn't post answers on social media websites!

Continue... !

I know you want to :D
@rinkydinkydoink OK, one more.

My ancestors probably never used the solar panels on their roof to charge up their plug-in hybrid car and drive to the supermarket via battery power and purchase out of season fresh fruits like blueberries and bananas, to be brought home and placed in a high powered electric blender and pureed into breakfast smoothies!

My grandmother never had a refrigerator abd a washing machine. Never used a cell phone, computer, coffee machine, fax, digital camera etc. She tried a sida drink only once and was startled by it.
@Tamara68

Holy Cow! This is probably the first time I've used that olden days expression since I was a kid.

Regularly speak with people thousands of miles away
@DDonde

YES!
A lot of things I take for granted, I imagine. They would probably consider me weak and privileged.
@bijouxbroussard

Probably.

As for your last thought - I know they'd love you soon enough.

They never spent hours staring at a small screen.

Indulged in cosmetic surgery.

@rinkydinkydoink It came to mind because I saw a young woman today who had absolutely huge artificially inflated lips. I don't know what she thought she looked like but to me it was very unattractive. I felt sorry for her feeling that she had to do that.
@FreddieUK

Your comment captured this sad, modern reality perfectly. Your heart-wrenching summation hit home.

@FreddieUK I feel the same about women with tattoos. I know its a personal choice and each to their own. But to me its graffiti on a beautiful canvas. (For the record, I am not a fan of tattoos on males either, but understand service insignia or similar commemorations..)😷
