I was in school. I remember it well because we had a teacher who was in the running for the spot that Kristen McCauliff got.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I was 17 as well. I assume I was at school, but I can't remember the details.
calicuz · 56-60, M
I think I heard about it at school, but didn't see until I got home and watched the news.

Coming out of a final exam in high school in suburban Chicago. The Bears had won the Super Bowl two days earlier so that whole week stands out in my mind.

I was at work - we all kind of stood up at our desks and were listening to the news playing on the overhead speakers that normally played oldies radio...
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
I was 6. I was just home from school, I remember watching it on the news on a little black and white portable tv in the kitchen.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Watching it on TV, if I remember correctly.

CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I was six and not really aware of what was going on tbh. It's not a formative memory or anything.

I wasn’t born for another 14 years.
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays I don't know anyone that didn't break down crying, even our six time state champion hardcore three Vietnam tours former Marine high school varsity football coach and woods and drafting classes teacher sobbed like a child, because he had a fellow teacher die in the shuttle.
@NativePortlander1970 It was a shocking tragedy. That day was seared into my memory.
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays I saw it live in the school library running an errand for my English teacher, the librarian had the tv on CNN and asked me to watch the countdown and launch with her, it was surreal.
SJones48 · 41-45, M
I was 3 and was mad because they interrupted the Price is Right for news coverage
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
I wasn't born yet. Just give it 3 more years.
swirlie · 31-35, F
My father was 13 years old in Norway and throwing balloons filled with water out his science class window to the parking lot below evidently, so I wasn't even on anyone's radar yet.
NinaTina · 26-30, F
Wasn't born
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
Not even a sperm yet
15 years old, was watching it live with the school librarians while on an errand for the English teacher.
