Conspiracy theorists are people looking for deep meaning in the trivial. Because their lives are trivial and missing meaning they crave.

They can’t manage relationships with people but they can prove 9/11 was an inside job, apparently. And you must believe them.
One of the things my years have taught me is that GiAnTt CoNsPiRaCiEs without leakers or whistleblowers are mythical. Nixon couldn't keep his "plumbers" secret. Reagan's Iran Contra deal leaked. Bush couldn't keep Abu Ghraib secret.

So when you build your worldview on not one but several pErFeCt GiAnTt CoNsPiRaCiEs you are only displaying a lack of critical thinking.

You'd be surprised at the number of folks here who believe in -
a Clinton Seth Rich conspiracy AND
an Obama birth certificate conspiracy AND
an Obama gun confiscation conspiracy (Jade Helm) AND
a Bill Gates created Covid conspiracy AND
a Covid is mild as a common cold conspiracy AND
a killer mRNA vaccine conspiracy AND
a Dems printed fake ballots conspiracy AND
a Dems hacked the vote counting machines conspiracy AND
a Dems caused Trump's documents problem conspiracy.
And probably many others.

GiAnTt CoNsPiRaCiEs without leakers or whistleblowers are mythical. Believing in one is dicey. Believing in more than one displays a crucial lack of critical thinking. Believing in any four or more of the above is unhinged.

@ElwoodBlues
Reagan's Iran Contra deal
I remember hearing about that every day sometime in the 80's. Never knew what it meant, still do not. Not that I ever cared.
Just funny to hear about it again almost 40 years later.

@ElwoodBlues That is a good point about the actual conspiracies not remaining secret. Of course some take longer to be exposed than others, so it is possible that some conspiracy theories of today will turn out, in time, to be justified.

People are labelled "conspiracy theorists" by those who sheepishly follow the crowd. They believe all the crap they are fed by media and eventually find out that most of what "conspiracy theorists" told them, were spot-on right. These name-and-shame-callers eventually are the ones that are harmed or even killed by what they complied with and then suddenly become "conspiracy theorists" them selves. "Conspiracy theorists" normally are happier, live longer and healthy lives, and are, on average, much more intelligent, strong and self-sufficient.

@ElwoodBlues I tend to agree with you, but some conspiracies are still possible. Nobody figured out who killed JFK.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo Maybe the obvious, Lee Harvey Oswald.
Richard65 · M
@Joubertsxxx how about you stop deflecting and tell us all how much the deep state is paying you to confuse the narrative with your ludicrous conspiracy theories...?
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
Well said. They used to just feed the ducks and talk to their imaginary friends.

But now they have the internet….
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@WintaTheAngle And they post Branco cartoons and memes on SW too! 🤪
They feel insignificant
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Ozymandiaz I think it does bring some meaning into their life. They feel impotent and unimportant. Believing something on the fringe makes them feel like mavericks and edgy .
LushMagic · 46-50, F
True. And even though they are faceless people online, you must sure trust them and not the dreaded media.

I tend to not believe them because of the people proposing them. I admit this probably mean I ignore things that might be true.
These dicks have been ruining the internet for years

I agree. They require relevance, which they don't have, they want to be heard, because nobody listens to them, and they are deeply depressed by the normality of life. They actively want there to be something else out there. They crave anything which can make their lives somewhat interesting.

I believe its a combination of 1 or more of these factors:
-Mental Illness/Emotional problems
-Gullibility
-Ignorance/lack of education
-Sub standard IQ
-Weaponized propaganda/agenda driven
-Genital Foliculitus

A good point, though it's never safe to ascribe the same explanation to all in a very large group.

I think some others crave deep, complicated or spuriously exciting meanings because they are unable to cope with real but usually very mundane explanations.

Some might not have the courage to say honestly, "I do not understand...", so invent or fall for strange "explanations" that frequently cannot withstand simple logic, let alone detailed, real knowledge of the case.

Whilst others of course, have some malevolent reason for wanting to spread ignorance, even downright lies.

100% agree. Sarcasm and Schadenfreude is their party trick. The lowest of the low.
ServantOfTheGoddess · 61-69, M
That's an interesting theory about theories :)

Just laugh and throw rocks at them

It is not political but there is one that they keep cloning taylor swift and killing off the old ones.

Even if that were the case, who gives a dump?
