Mississippi justice. I feel sick.

A group of monsters, calling themselves the "goon squad", wearing badges, decided that black men had no business visiting a white woman. So...they broke into a house, tortured these two men, shooting one in the mouth(doing a horrible thing(besides the shooting part). They tried to cover it up, even arresting one of the victims.
These men were police officers. Their superiors and contemporaries knew what this goon squad was doing.
But we have no racial problems here...
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Just saw a news article stating a 12 year old black child was arrested while taking out trash behind his home. The police called it wrong place wrong time. He was in the right place at the right time, the police were in the wrong place.
Ynotisay · M
@Carla I'm hopeful those guys are a relative anomaly. But who knows. There's stuff going down in the south that I can't really relate to.
But my thinking is that there's something like 50 million police/citizen contacts a year. We hear about the very, very small percentage that go south and, in the minds of some, that paints ALL cops in the same light. I think it's a self-defeating outcome. I also think it keeps more "good" people out of the police force. I don't see that situation with that kid as being racist in nature in any way. I think it was a mistake. But the takeaway for some is 'all cops are racist.' It's not accurate, it's not fair and I think it makes the situation worse. I'd rather see the situation get better. But part of it getting better means finding the animals that would do something like "The Goon Squad" did and making a huge example out of them. I want to those guys to do long, hard time. No place for anything like in this country.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Longpatrol The Slave Patrol loves to criminalize young Black children, especially Black boys, so that they will have a criminal record in the system for the rest of their lives.

@Longpatrol kids have been stealing cars.

@Dshhh Yeah. She wrote that about the Till and Evers murders. Calling out the Governor by name was a big deal. She had guts. Sang that song at Carnegie Hall in front of the whitest of whites. She was a stud. A great artist.

There should be a personality test for police officers that carry guns
CestManan · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire Well, it is mostly younger men who are like that because they think they are bad-azz. I do not know the age group of the cops who did that but I am guessing they are not our age.

Heck, lots of places are hiring foreigners who just got in the country to be members of the Slave Patrol. You can bet that they don't give a damn about human and civil rights and the federal and States' Bill of Rights.
deadgerbil · 22-25, F
And some people have the nerve to say that this country isn't still racist
@deadgerbil No. You outed yourself as a racist. But I knew it all along. Now keep up the insult attempts because I exposed the truth. 🤣

Oh, and I am sorry I offended by doing a number on your favorite candy assed "fragrance".
deadgerbil · 22-25, F
@LoneVoice you're ridiculous lol the fact that you think you did a number against a fragrance shows how feeble minded you are
@deadgerbil YOU'RE ridiculous. YOU'RE feeble minded. There, did I win? LMAO!!!

I remember reading about this some time ago when the story broke.
Sick disgusting monsters.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Scribbles when? I don't remember anything about it.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
What? I'm confused.

I just meant that I remember reading about this case in the news like over a week ago, when It was first reported on.

The whole thing still makes me sick to hear about it.
black4white · 56-60, M
Yet the moment you have blacks(along with any other minority group) try to push for better treatment its called going against the system OR everything is ok dont be sensitive.

What most people (ones NOT considered a minority) dont understand is that its HARD being a minority in the USA not just skin color, women are treated bad yet differently). and its always the other people fault until you finally PROVE you were not in the wrong and deserve better treatment.

Those "goon squads" plead bargained to the guilty plea... YET why was it not a red flag to the higher police officers to say..ummm why you body cam is off for the past 2+ hours and you are unreachable? come on now... technology is much better then that but more so where others trying to hide this until they just knew there was NO WAY to hide this? hhhmmmmm
sree251 · 41-45, M
@black4white I have no loved ones. I have no family. I live alone, and have been doing that for ten years now. It is easier to see human relationships from a distance. You have a smug attitude of someone who knows right from wrong. You think you are any different from the 8 billion poor souls mired in the muck of self-inflicted human suffering?
black4white · 56-60, M
@sree251 well hopefully you can keep doing this for 30 more years... just count me OUT of your 8 billion you have counting... that would be extremely appreciated
sree251 · 41-45, M
@black4white Count you out? I will, if you can show me one thing in your life that the rest of the 8 billion are not doing.
Piper · 61-69, F
I've heard and read about this, and can surely understand you feeling sick about it. How could anyone not, I wonder, unless they are of the same depraved mindset as those now former police officers.

The details of what they did to those two men, is troubling and downright sickening.
Piper · 61-69, F
@LoneVoice Ah yes; of course. Yet you have opportunity to and consistently do voice your contempt for liberals and what you perceive as their double-standards, and ME personally, without doing so on this post. One that is about something sick and disturbing that happened...is apparently still happening in a state with a long and documented history of racism towards black people.

Gangs in Police Forces are literally getting away with murder. The Police are becoming more and more corrupt and nothing is being done about it because they protect the rich. The rich mans security force.

@SW-User
very much so, and behave appallingly to women.

Here's an example from California =
Woman partially blinded by police beanbag round during protest settles lawsuit for $10 million
MARCH 23, 2023
"LA MESA — A woman who filed a lawsuit against a San Diego County city in 2020 after she was hit — and partially blinded — by a beanbag round an officer fired during a protest has settled with the city of La Mesa for $10 million.

Leslie Furcron said Wednesday she was glad the lawsuit settled in her favor but that money couldn’t return her life to normalcy. The 61-year-old said she now gets blistering headaches, which have prompted her to drop out of college.

Doctors told her she would need to undergo reconstructive surgery to properly seal the hole the projectile left in her skull, she said, and she will never regain vision in her left eye.

“I wish that it had never happened,” she said tearfully from her lawyer’s office. “I thank God that I’m living, right? I thank God that I’m living, but not every day is a good day for me.”

Still, when asked if she would attend the protest again, after everything she’s endured, she didn’t hesitate before she said, “Yes.”

“I’d do it again,” Furcron said. “Because I’m not OK with police brutality. I have a voice. I have a 1st Amendment right.”
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-03-23/woman-partially-blinded-by-police-beanbag-round-during-la-mesa-protest-settles-lawsuit-for-10m

Of course they let the Slave Patroller off without any charges against him.
@Diotrephes Remember this guy?

The Police are protected. Qualified immunity plus the Police Union never pays a dime when their Cops kill innocent people. If the Law Suits came out of the Police Pension Plan or the Union paid all of the violence toward the public would stop. Of course the people on the Right will point out that there would be a mass exodus from Police Forces in the US. Wouldn't it be horrible to only have the law abiding Police left behind???
Ynotisay · M
This one has blown my mind. These guys were seriously twisted individuals. How they were able to become cops, and remain cops, is something I can't wrap my head around. The details of this thing are sickening. And it's not just one or two. My only solace is knowing they're going to serve REALLY hard time. Targets on their backs. As it should be.
This will not stop until not only are the "bad apples" charged but when their superiors get the boot and black balled too.

This is important because they were either complicit or dangerously incompetent. There is not good outcome.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow One of the main problems is that the criminal justice system is based on slavery. Some states have deleted the slavery clause from their constitutions but it is still in the federal constitution. Until it is deleted everywhere and for profit prisons are closed, the problem will continue. In addition any Slave Patroller who violates anyone's constitutional rights needs to be fired and sent to prison for a lenghty sentence.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
That's now? It reads like something from a bygone age. :-(
Carla · 61-69, F
@ninalanyon close enough for now. This year.
That bygone age is what maga is all about.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
The Slave Patrol is alive and vigorous throught the country, from border to border and from coast to coast. It continues its oppressive practices despite a number of well publicized multi-million dollar verdicts against it across the country.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow What do you think modern prisons are today if they are not slave plantations?
@Diotrephes I suppose you could argue the difference is the slaves are multi-racial now.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And cotton has been replaced by call centers.

@LordShadowfire Hitler did nothing wrong. He was provoked by the Allies (France, and the UK). The trouble makers in Europe are allied with the US, the quintessential trouble maker-that needs wars for economic survival.

@Justice4All Of course, there was nothing wrong with Hitler. I don't mean that he was a saint. You are right, he was no worse than the rest of us. As an American, I am ashamed that Americans are still supporting the US government in Ukraine after the horrific suffering we brought to other countries since Vietnam. We did more harm to our fellowmen than Hitler by far.

Thank you for a balance point of view. I thought I was the only sane guy in the west.

That'sthe thing, @smiler2012...these people are incapable of self reflection and shame.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@smiler2012 The US is what it is: a sad country. We did not become what we are from what we were. We have always been a sad country of nothing but race hatred filled bigots. We are what we are. Let's face it.
Mississippi justice. Kind of painting with a broad brush there, Miss Carla?
I'M not allowed to do that. 😏

By the way, I hate ALL cops.
Carla · 61-69, F
@LoneVoice allowed? You can do anything you want.
And i think my broad brush is appropriate.
@Carla Perhaps.
You can do anything you want.
Not without being nailed to the cross for committing an egregious offense. Nailed to the cross by the very same people who do the same thing when it fits their need.
But that's social media, I reckon. 🤷 I should know and accept it by now.
@Carla And by the way, many of my generalizations are appropriate as well, at least according to my experience. 😉 When I make a sweeping generality, I say 90% is close enough to say "all" or everybody. And when I say it, I say it figuratively. Unfortunately, there are humorless people who take me literally and go bananas.
exchrist · 31-35
Wow we seriously need police reform at least.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@exchrist
Wow we seriously need police reform at least.
The Slave Patrollers get away with their crimes because the asskissers (the politicians) depend upon their oppression of minorities for their own objectives.

In order to have effective police reform almost all of the local, State, and federal politicians will have to be replaced with people who actually believe in equality. Right now, far too many people are still stuck in the Jim Crow era.
exchrist · 31-35
@Carla the issue is understaffing. Exhausted officers make bad decision havev reduced reaction and are not more likely to knee jerk react. Therefore not even defund how about staff the police
Carla · 61-69, F
@exchrist this goon squad thing had absolutely nothing to do with understaffing.
Dino11 · M
Sadly, they are still fighting the Civil War, some things will never change. Blacks need to arm themselves and create their own law in their homes.
Dino11 · M
@LordShadowfire A Glock 17 would work for me.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire Braxton with a 93% white population of less than 200 people is in Simpson County. Apparently, a neighbor of a white woman called the "goon squad", white deputies of the county sheriff's department. Apparently, she was living with one of the two black guys. This situation is right out of central casting for a Netflix movie beating the drum on racism in America.

Assuming you are a white guy, would you be foolish enough to shack up with a black woman in any black ghetto of an inner-city in America?

What stands out to me is that Mr Parker and Mr Jenkins (the two black guys) had to file a case against the deputies who obviously committed a heinous crime. Why didn't the sheriff (probably a white guy) do something about the situation? Seems to me that the justice system doesn't work the way it should anywhere in America. With a 93% white population, the sheriff will be re-elected unopposed the way black public officials are re-elected ad nauseum no matter how bad America's cities get.
black4white · 56-60, M
@Dino11 @LordShadowfire If a black male arms himself he will be shot/killed on sight... just the name of the game.. sooooo yeah this is where it is.

When whites arm themselves and shoot innocent people they are coddled and people ask... who made this person mad or look for excuses... just how it goes.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Like they say, With great power comes great responsibility." You screw upmin that position and it's existential. The cops don't like that. There is a shortage of people becoming poluce but that doesn't mean they should lower the standards. Should the police be armed like the military?
CestManan · 46-50, F
Prejudice is a lot worse problem in small towns but not as much in big cities. I would think any sort of minority group would try to move to a bigger city if possible where things are more diverse.

Now about those cops - okay so they didn't agree with interracial couples existing. Was it really worth it to spend time in prison over their beliefs? Someone wiser than me once said, "There is nothing in this world worth doing time over. No amount of money, no revenge, no lover's quarrel, no nothing. "

@CestManan it isn't easy. And many of those small communities aren't where people move to, but are born to. And the cost of moving a life can reach into the tens of thousands.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@CestManan Actually the funniest thing about what you've said is it is the cities where this happens most often. LAPD being one of the most cited examples of misconduct
specman · 51-55, M
Their superiors probably didn't know that was happening. It's sad that this is happening.

KunsanVeteran · 61-69, M
@specman I seriously doubt that the sheriff didn’t know. Some of them have been in trouble before.
specman · 51-55, M
@KunsanVeteran yeah after reading that link in the comments I am pretty sure it was known by their superiors and the general public. It’s really angering they are just adding the fuel to the fire on people thinking all whites are racist.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
wow, was that in 1937?
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@Carla I missed how it was covered up in the one report I read. I see that two deputies were fired and a civil rights investigation is ongoing.

I didn't read about the deputies being arrested either - but that is a foregone conclusion.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Pretzel I would hope it's a foregone conclusion.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@LordShadowfire even if the state of mississippi doesn't jump on it the feds are involved. you can't really justify sexually assaulting a suspect with a sex toy, tasing them and then shoving a gun in their mouth and pulling the trigger.

not even in Mississippi

How long ago was that?

It did not make the British press. And tells me a lot.

@SW-User the crime happened in January. They took this plea just recently.
I hadn't heard about it either. It is a small county of about 150 thousand. I think they yried to keep it quiet.
I believe it took journalists to dig into the history of this group of officers and bring it to the fore.

@Roundandroundwego People have always fought one another. It's not that big of a deal since there are more people today than at any time in history. Overall, there are very few people, as a percentage of the global population, who engage in overt acts of violence against other people today. When such acts of violence do occur we tend to get upset because we expect everyone to be non-violent and cordial to each other.
@Diotrephes yes, your people have always fought one another. That's why my people don't think it's all bad if you die faster than we do.

Carla · 61-69, F
@NativePortlander1970 that may be true. But this was six cops in a county of one hundred fifty thousand.
And even one bad cop can do more damage than those hundred can make up for.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@NativePortlander1970

I disagree, if there are "good cops'" why do they stick up for the bad cops and not get the bad cops off the force? This whole "brotherhood" is too 20th century and needs to go. Defending and uplifting the Constitution should be the only thing they uphold, not a fictitious "band of Brothers."

I say this with no anger or malice in my tone.
@calicuz Many, many good cops do come forward, many more than you realize. When I was in candidacy with the Portland Police back in the early 90's, such a case was going on, a vice cop planted a gun and his partner turned him in.
