Political grandstanding and nothing more. He’s was in the Senate for 49 years. What did he accomplish? Nothing. His memory is as good as his crackhead son.
it constantly amazes me that . each and every election, ppl are sworn in to uphold the costitution.
and every tragedy. they only solution they can come up with is... dismantling the constitution.
any suggestion of physical barriers is met with silence. and cries that the suggester has no heart and is a gun nut.

the left : we want the guns. or we aint lifting a finger to even try stop school shootings.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
An extensive vetting can be done. Blue states don’t care. All Democrats do is accuse and complain, they never have solutions. I think they are all brain dead. There is a tv series called “Brain Dead.” It’s about Washington DC politicians being taken over by aliens. I’m not so sure it’s fiction. @TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Carissimi Democrats will never favor any kind of vetting or mandatory ID's because it would also intrude on their ability to harvest illegal votes...

Chances are high that the shooter or his family immigrated here illegally... something that the investigators are trying as hard as possible to conceal from the public...
@wildbill83 they sure are not going to piss off 50% of the country months out from the midterms with knee jerk gun laws either.. they’re desperately trying to save their dumpster fire image as it is..
let the virtue signalling begin

Seriously, that's all they've got. Hot air.

To change the Constitution of the United States of America, the following things HAVE to happen:

1. Congress may submit a proposed constitutional amendment to the states, if the proposed amendment language is approved by a two-thirds vote of both houses.
2. Congress must call a convention for proposing amendments upon application of the legislatures of two-thirds of the states (i.e., 34 of 50 states).
3. Amendments proposed by Congress or convention become valid only when ratified by the legislatures of, or conventions in, three-fourths of the states (i.e., 38 of 50 states).

Basically...NOT gonna happen. They don't have the votes. And the legislatures of 38 states would never ratify such a thing.

Um, unless you get an amendment to overrule an amendment, the amendments normally are absolute in USA.

The first problem with banning "assault weapons" is defining what that term means, as I believe one liberal law makers staff recently attempted in the last two years and basically they wanted anything black or camo or something that looked like it could be used in a war/law enforcement movie banned, while having absolutely no issues with guns with the same physical capabilities but didn't look like they would be used in war/law enforcement movies.

Basically they were judging guns as "assault weapons" or not based on how they looked instead of their capabilities.
Viper · M
@MarineBob exactly, great example, they actually have to know about guns before you can make a half decent judgement about them.

Gabby Gifford and husband is speaking out about the Texas shooting. Both have extensive gun collections, her husband tried buying a ar about 8 years ago which the dealer wouldn't give him after he paid for it ..it wasn't for his personal use
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@Viper Amendments are not "absolute" in any sense. As for the easy ones: the 1st, 4th (especially) 5th and 6th all have been recognized to have limitations.

The 4th (protection against unreasonable search and seizure) has been especially been carved out with many exceptions by the judiciary, which has proven to be popular among tough on crime politicians.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
This was actually Ronald Reagan's stance as well when he publicly supported gun control measures such as background checks and an assault weapons ban
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@MarineBob They already did once

AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@MarineBob keeping it murky is a sure fire way to never even properly address it let alone solve it .
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@TinyViolins gee we sure can accept that instead of hope for change.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
I think there needs to be a measure of checks and balances in order to be able to have a firearm.

Just like you need a license to drive a car. Or you need to be a certain age to drink.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbit what about to vote ?
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
that's funny, considering it actually is absolute... as is the oath many of us swore to defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic...

wonder how many goons he can find with no fear of death to test his claim? 🤔
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Especially amusing how he goes on to say that It wasn't legal for civilians to own cannons when the 2nd Amendment was ratified...

Funny... considering the majority of cannons used in the Revolution as well as the war of 1812 were civilian owned, and used to great effect by the merchant marines (civilian owned warships).

and it is still perfectly legal to own a muzzle loaded cannon today (unless you live in some liberal infested hellhole of course).

With enough money and proper licensing, you can even own a functioning Tank or Artillery gun...

Pretty pathetic that we have a president that knows absolutely nothing about American history or it's laws...🙄

@wildbill83 I know a chick w a hot pink one. (Seriously).
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@AthrillatheHunt I know lots of chicks with "hot pink ones"... 🤔
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@wildbill83 her buttstock I meant .
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Why did he take an oath to uphold the constitution?
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@AthrillatheHunt In 88 years, there have only been two cases where a legally purchased automatic/select fire rifle have been used in a crime...

in both cases, the perpetrators were cops...
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@wildbill83 I find that hard to believe dude .
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@AthrillatheHunt It's is true.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
And Tennessee is actually proposing legalizing short barreled rifles and shotguns. Similar to Texas and suppressor laws. Thank goodness for the 10th amendment
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
American conservatives probably can't accept that.
If Americans want to let them have guns, we can't keep caring about their lives.
No sympathy.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
He also said "YOU NEED NUKES IN ORDER TO DESTROY THE GOVERNMENT"

If we acted after he mention it. Who knows it might worked XD
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
JoeB says a lot of things that have to be re-explained later , for clarification purposes .
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
But did he get it out in an understandable manner?
SW-User
😂welp who didn’t see that coming
