What are you planting this year? 👀

My baby plants.. I think 5 different tomato varieties, a baby cucumber, a couple of red peppers(skipped the hot this year b/c I wasn’t using them so much last year), basil, oregano, parsley, mint, chocolate mint, rosemary, lavender, marigolds everywhere, humming bird flowers I think it is that my neighbor gave me seeds for 🤔 and I think that’s it besides my front garden of regular plants in the ground.

What are you growing?

@MellyMel22 I’m new to growing, it’s great. My first time lol 🥕🍓
Aw I’m sure they’ll be fine, looks great.
MellyMel22 · F
@Fairydust Thanks! And you def got it, new or not!
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@Fairydust beautiful, lovely, wonderful. Congrats!
summersong · F
I miss having a proper garden, that looks so good!

I will probably end up planting some herbs this year, maybe in with my nasturtiums, but I’m out of space for anything bigger
InvictusIndigo · 22-25, M
@MellyMel22 NO WAYYYYYY
MellyMel22 · F
@InvictusIndigo You already knew that huh 🤔
InvictusIndigo · 22-25, M
@MellyMel22 No! This is absolutely lit!
dubkebab · 56-60, M
My basil is thriving,got my first batch of pesto last week.win.
I saved this one Chinese Lantern thing that I got from Mike when we dug up his septic tank by moving it to a pot in back out of the shade,so that feels good,it was touch and go for a while.
My dwarf Meyer Lemon is struggling and I'm not happy with that.I killed my awesome one trying to move it when the previous neighbor put in this huge stupid fence,apparently you need to dig way deeper than I did to transplant those.Now I get it.
My war with the Ivy on the east side was won,finally,with a neat new stone patio space and 2 tomatoes as showpieces,also a tall blossoming onion and a red geranium that washed up in the flood.
In other news,the new neighbors will learn how much debris their fancy fence will be trapping next time the river rises. I grew potatoes and garlic in the wine barrels that are now too shady for tomatoes,looking pretty good.I have another barrel and planter box begging for spinach or lettuce...we'll see if I get around to that. What else...? succulents,catcti,some assorted fancy flowers I forget the names of.Oh,and the Calla Lillies went berserk this year to reward me for destroying that massive English Ivy encroachment.I think I killed the grapevine in the process,but it looks cool anyway.Maybe it will rally and surprise me.
Oh,and my rosemary is over 10 feet tall-yowzah.
MellyMel22 · F
@dubkebab Oh wow, nice! Sounds like you have your hands full with those!
dubkebab · 56-60, M
@MellyMel22 It looks better than ever.
I got halfway cleared out nicely on the west side and gave up,though. I had the backyard fully cleared and mostly free of blackberries,put in an ace little firepit and had it looking quite civilized.Then I was like,ok,I'm on a roll,now I fix up those poor neglected drums,which got discouraging,so now they sit in piles in the rain next to another broken weed wacker.But yeah,the one side is kind of a showpiece.
Plus I found a nice chunk of petrified wood and a huge maybe 3lb leopardskin jasper digging at work building a retaining wall and thusly my rock walls remain the finest on the block.
MellyMel22 · F
That sounds great! I hope you continue to enjoy it all! I know I will here 😁 @dubkebab

XDHyperGirlXD1 · 31-35, F
@MellyMel22 never 👀
Barny52 · 56-60, M
Well extra potatoes, just in case things get worse with war in Ukrain , leeks, parsnips, sweetcorn, runner beans, peas, beetroot, broccoli, broad bean, cabbage, strawberry but some critters are pulling unripe fruit off and my big jumbo pink banana squash’s plus any unwanted young veg people give away.
Barny52 · 56-60, M
@atlantic59 the allotment i got about 30 yrs ago just for a quiet place away from the 1st wife and found i like fighting the weeds, bugs and weather
MellyMel22 · F
@Barny52 You can post them here too!
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@Barny52 a trucker picked me up hitch-hiking one time and he had said to the waitress at the truck stop that he planted his ex-wives in the garden and without missing a beat she smiled and said: "I hope they grow!"
Looking great. Have fun and may you have a wonderful harvest.

What kinds of Tomatoes do you have? Are any of them heirloom varieties? :D

I love the yellow or green or deep violet, almost black tomatoes; they look very pretty in a salad.
My parents had them in their garden!
MellyMel22 · F
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Well when I started planting i was irritated remembering neither place had the yellow pair or Italian parsley, so when I was done with the cucumber plant I was working on I told myself I’m going to try another place. It was also necessary to go there to see if they had the same trelliss I got last year that I didn’t wanna take from the tomato plants this year. So luckily they had the trelliss I wanted and the yellow pear tomatoes and Italian parsley! I was so glad o went! Those yellow pear are so good! I got so many from the little plant last year(it was my first year trying them).

That’s great your mom did that! I would try it, but I honestly wouldn’t know how to! Or if they’d grow in time. I’m not sure what the difference is, if I said baby I meant to clarify they’re tiny 🤭
@MellyMel22 Yes they are so tiny and adorable. I do miss them. I will be keeping my eye out for them.

Thank you for your post,
it has brought back memories and inspired me. 🤗🌼
MellyMel22 · F
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Thank you for sharing too, always nice to hear from you! Here are two I didn’t know the names of. I didn’t put the other tab in b/c I couldn’t remember which one I planted was it 🤭 That’s a first for me 😅

wildbill83 · 41-45, M
the usual; potatoes, tomatoes, corn, beans, squash, peppers, lettuce, pumpkins, watermelon, etc.

tried doing various herbs, but all died 'cept the rosemary
MellyMel22 · F
@wildbill83 Well the ground here is horrible with roots. It took me years to get a decent amount of plants in the ground given the roots I had to torture myself trying to get rid of 🤣 Here’s the other side of my front which my neighbor asked me to do for her and I said oh hell no, I’m sorry, not doing that again. This doesn’t show what’s underground either 😳

OceanRoses · F
@MellyMel22 You can do pot gardening on Amazon you can buy these garden bags. So neat the things you can do now. Zegos Grow Bags 5 Gallon 10 Packs Fabric Plant Pots with Heavy Duty Thickened Nonwoven Fabric and Handles for Indoor&Outdoor Garden Plants, Vegetable, Flowers, Potato
MellyMel22 · F
@OceanRoses That’s a good idea, but there isn’t a great amount of sun in front too. I put my cucumber plant out there in one spot that I think it’s the most sun, but if I don’t see a change shortly I’ll bring it back to my patio and crowded some more. The problem is it doesn’t look so crowded because they haven’t grown yet, once my plants grow it looks like a forest my neighbors come looking like they’re there just for scenery 🤣 I caught an older woman taking pictures of all my plants last year I thought she was trying to get me fined and I came out and I was like are you taking pictures of my patio and she’s said it’s your plants they’re so beautiful I wanted to show my friend that I told about them. Then I felt bad 😅
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, zucchini squash. Lots of marigolds too! As you likely know marigolds are great around tomatoes.
MellyMel22 · F
@BackyardShaman Nice! If they’d survive underground where I live, I’d do zucchini and more! And yes, marigolds are great in more than one way! They are the only flower that I’ll replant ever year in the ground in front of my place(they don’t come back here, I’m assuming they’re similar to the veggies being done in the ground here. The tree roots are horrible. I’m surprised my other plants return every year.
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
gorgeous, and great! , I got tomatoes, squash, spinach and lots of hot peppers, cauliflower, and some things that I don't know cause a girlfriend from away who starts everything indoors and ultimately doesn't have room for,comes and plants them here. I know I will wish I learned how to can, like my mother always did. She always had a huge garden and everything was utilized
MellyMel22 · F
@atlantic59 That’s great you have all that and prob more!
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22 yes, exactly!
OceanRoses · F
Lovely, we planted tomatoes, cucumbers, snap peas, squash, lots of chard, watermelon, strawberries & herbs. Have apricot trees, kiwi, peach, cherry trees, avocados,lemon, orange tree. I'm really serious this yr about gardening veggies are so over priced right now just like everything else. Want to be more self sufficient, our goal... I make bread now :) lol sorta trying.
MellyMel22 · F
@OceanRoses Sounds good! It’s also nice to not have to get it all at stores 😁
OceanRoses · F
@MellyMel22 Went to the store 3 oranges 1.29 a pound! I use to buy a 10 pound bag 2.99. I want to homestead 😁try.
MellyMel22 · F
@OceanRoses I can’t blame you! I wish I had a yard to do everything I use! I always wanted fruit trees 😩
This year I am planting tomatoes, dill, zucchini and seeds of discontent
MellyMel22 · F
@Ghostinthemachine That’s great! Except for the last one 🤔😳
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
My beautiful irises, my mom's favourite flowers, are just starting to bloom and in the rain, they bespeak of wonderment and life. They were planted by a previous house owner and I'm so glad they did, along with some yellow flowers that I don't the names of and rhododendrons...
MellyMel22 · F
@atlantic59 Sounds great! Always nice to see stuff like that pop up that you didn’t have to do!
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22 Internet out here in the rainy countryside has been down most of the day. It was a real pleasure to hear that that went through, and thanks a bouquet~
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Roots! 😬
MellyMel22 · F
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I’d prob die if I tried 😆
@MellyMel22 Even with a professional rototiller it would not happen. Only if Mr. Hulk, the CGI version one ;) could make it happen... 🤔😁😂😂😂

It's an ILL conceived notion.
>>>*Your neighbor is CRAZY* rofl.

Show them some photos of lovely potted gardens ;) And maybe just cut them loose....
MellyMel22 · F
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON My side was bad too, but not as many thick roots.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
Seeds of doubt. 🤣
Elisbch · M
Looks to me like you're going to have a nice looking balcony in a little while. You've already got a good start. 😊👍🏻
MellyMel22 · F
@Elisbch Thanks! I’m hoping they survive this year, many I bought fell apart outta the 4 pack things. I never had that issue in the past and they all came from the same place 🤔
Elisbch · M
You'll take good care of them. I bet they'll turn out fine. Hopefully we'll see pictures of them later all grown up. Good luck 😊👍🏻.. @MellyMel22
MellyMel22 · F
@Elisbch Hopefully! I’m loading them up with vitamins 🤣 Thank you.. I def will share the change!
GBPackersFan · 41-45, M
That is very nice indeed. I don’t have much of a green thumb but I would love to plant my foot up some idiots ass I work with 😀
MellyMel22 · F
@GBPackersFan Some people truly deserve it.
SoLeRiMix · 31-35, M
Their names:
- Danny DeVito
- Al Pacino
- Robert De Niro
- Steve Buscemi

Who planted them? You know the name.🙂
Dropped the thought.
Keep nurturing them.
MellyMel22 · F
@sspec Did you change your mind about doing them?
@MellyMel22 Ahh! Pink making me think.
Namor69 · 41-45, M
Great job with that decorative green thumb...neat n organized!! 👍🏻
MellyMel22 · F
@Namor69 Thanks Buddy 😁
Gorgeous. Just spinach and lettuce this side 👌
MellyMel22 · F
@DrScissorhands Yum! I used to do lettuce but got grossed out when I found globs of my neighbor’s dog hair in it. That’s one part of the reason I got the patio divider you see 😂
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I am not growing anything, but my appetite!

Thanks for the video.

I don't know if there's enough time left.
MellyMel22 · F
@LordShadowfire For seeds?
@LordShadowfire Yeah there is. Plant stuff like lettuce, radishes, carrots and beets. Look at the dates of germination, sure it's not too late.
Go on! Have fun with it :)
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
My ass in my chair. We waited too long this year.
