Yes. Since upgrading to an RV, its much better. Everything stays in the trailer. Just through in food and clothes, and hit the road.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Hatt94 RV's are pretty awesome aren't they. My wife and I keep a spare set of everything in the motorhome just like you. All we have to do is load the clothes and food and go. There is no better way to travel in my opinion.

@Notsimilarreally RV camping is the best. You have a real bed, a real bathroom and air conditioning. 😊😊😊
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Yes - and have done many times over the years, mainly in tents but I have also owned four modestly-sized motor-caravans of various makes, in the past.

I think I'd struggle to use my lightweight tent now though, due to knee problems making kneeling and standing up from the floor, difficult. A pity because I enjoy camping that way, a backpacking tent is warmer than a large one at night or in cold weather; and on many holidays, I had no choice anyway.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@ArishMell I'm sorry. Here in America motor caravans are referred to as Recreational Vehicles or RV's for short. Is your Renault a truck or car? It definitely counts. 🙂 Do you enjoy camping in it? Do you get to go often?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Musicman Thankyou! "Recreational"... I know the other American words, "camper" or "camper-van", as these have become commonly used in Britain as well.

I don't use mine very often, and then for occasional weekends away for particular events, not holidays as such.

The Renault Kangoo, and similar ones by other manufacturers, is really a cross between car and van. They are available as straightforwards good vans but also in estate-car form, as mine is. They are quite small, less than six feet long inside from the back of the front seats, to the rear door. The general class is sometimes referred to officially as a "car-derived van".

The illustration, from a dealer's web-site, is of the modern form but it not very far different in external appearance from mine, which is about nineteen years old.

@ArishMell As long as it meets your needs and you are happy that's all that matters. 🙂 For some reason your picture didn't come through.

No. I like home. I like running water, air conditioning. Comfortable bed. Why take off work to go make your life harder. I’ve done the camping thing many times I don’t like it.
As a child, yes. As an adult - I've never gone camping ( I don't know how my dad it for all 5 kids from his late 20s into his early 60s).
sirweighsalot · 22-25, M
I LOVE camping. Used to be on a field crew where I had to camp for weeks at a time, and I still love it.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
At my age it’s considered “glamping” but a lot of outdoor time still.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SageWanderer When I was younger, I used to look down on people who camped like that, and now I wish I could afford one of those.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire I actually liked more of a primitive style but to accommodate my wife a compromise was needed. Now I guess there has been an adaptation to those creature comforts.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SageWanderer I still prefer a bare bones style, but my days of sleeping directly on the ground are behind me. Also, I need a refrigerator for my insulin and a place to plug in my BiPAP.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
We enjoy RV'ing and camping that way
katydidnt · 61-69, F
Mostly when touring by bicycle, and especially if the "campground" is just a spot found by sheer luck--"stealth camping" with only the resources that fit in my bike bags and water bottles.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Love it, but my back doesn’t agree with sleeping on the ground anymore.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
I like glamping... most recently in Australia
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Love it. Just was camping this weekend.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Yeah, I used to go all the time. Haven't much had the chance in a long while
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
I can't wipe myself then eat chips or something
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@BrandNewMan if I go camping I stay up all night fishing and leave before it gets too hot.
@WowwGirl I've done that .. up late stargazing at times .. had a fun evening when my boys were young when the clearing we were camping in filled up w fireflies
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@BrandNewMan that's cool
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I used to. I'm too old and feeble now. I can barely walk on a sidewalk much less a mountain trail.
