For as long as there have been humans there has not been peace, and humans don't evolve, so why would the absence of peace change, in general?
Now, add to that the climate crisis of our own making, our longer lifespans than just one century ago mixed with our unfettered procreation on a planet that is facing growing desertification, growing deforestation, declining land availability for agriculture, declining freshwater sources, rising sea levels making some island countries outright disappear, our insistence on eating less sustainable animal-based food rather than more sustainable plant-based food, our insane insistence on living in deserts (whether that is Arizona or Saudi Arabia) which in turn depletes freshwater even more and also rrequires even more energy for air-conditioning and in some cases desalination of seawater which in turn requires more fossil or nuclear energy use which in turn exacerbates climate change and/or the unresolved nuclear waste disposal issue (do you see the circle we're going in there?).
All of this will only drive wars just based on finite and declining resources, aside from just our normal agression tendencies, tribalism and denial of the reality of all sharing a single planet. Things will get worse, not better. We are a failed species, largely by our own choice.
Given our chronic collective narcissism, humanity usually gets what it deserves in terms of natural disasters and a likely extinction sooner than later. We deserve extinction, particularly since we're not even the majority species on this planet, but our harmful footprint vastly exceeds our comparatively small numbers, to the ongoing collateral damage of other species (including extinctions of other species even just with the last half-century, solely because of human activity).

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species.
I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. @Gelly My point was the human beings are animals. I know that some don't like to acknowledge that very real truth. And the truth there is that animals will fight over territory, habitat, food, mates or any number of things. So if "peace" means literal peace, it's never happened and it never will.

@Ynotisay fully agree. I read the much lamented Ian M Banks “culture “ sf novels and it changed my views. First came the AIs ( the drones” ). They became sentient and enforced their morality on the civilisation. But benignly.
Then came the minds. AI of such preternatural sentience they awarded all before. Gods. They weren’t always benign but many were.
I believe wholly Banks was a visionary.
Let’s face it how much longer can this species survive on this rock as extremism and weapons of mass destruction become commonplace. We can’t do this our inner beast is too strong. I pray AI is benign when it takes over. I think we have more chance that way. But perhaps a loss of personal freedom. Though to be sure I’ve never wanted a semi automatic weapon freedom not when murder rates are abhorrent and school shootings rife.

@NerdyPotato agree:We've reached the point that we need to open our minds to something else though. Not necessarily communism, but capitalism is crushing humanity.

@Penny more and more people work two jobs and can still barely afford rent and food, let alone to own a car or home. Quality is going down for everything to make it more profitable, our air and water is becoming more toxic because clean production costs too much. Everything is about money first and happiness, health, and everything that really matters is way down on the list of priorities.

There was never really peace. For most of human history, it was more-or-less accepted that states would war for territory and leaders would rule with impunity. The rise of global Liberalism gave us a brief period where political tyranny was de-normalized, and before the capital class had succeeded at consolidating power over the political system. Now, that project is nearly complete, so we are returning back to a world where political tyranny is normalized again.
Maybe one day the pendulum swings back in the other direction and we go through the same cycle again. Maybe we concoct a political system which de-normalizes both political and economic tyranny, and creates a real, lasting peace. Nobody knows where the world will go, and it's our job to shape that future.
