Dead Kennedys is probably the only punk band that caught my attention. What I'd call punk anyway.

Dead Kennedys. My mom was a punk rocker in her youth and would listen to them all the time when I was growing up. I basically grew up listening to them, lol.

I guess the Ramones - I got to see them play a Halloween Party in the early 80s...I actually got to speak with Joey in between sets and I asked him who his favorite band was - and he said a few that I really didn't know, or couldn't hear that well - it was loud in there, but he did mention "The Who" - and so I told him my favorite Who album was "Live at Leeds", and he had a big smile and said yeah, me too! I said something stupid about the guitar playing in My Generation and we just kind of chatted and had a beer for a few minutes, he was pretty nice...I never forgot that - I was dressed as the Invisible man during this whole thing...

without straying over into early adjacent overlapping genres (otherwise I'd be adding bands like early Siouxsie and the Banshees, early Wire, Dead Kennedys, The Cramps, Christian Death, Gun Club, The Screamers, and it would never end), I will say it's a tie between early Damned (Rat Scabies!!!), Buzzcocks and early Ramones
