Maybe because they need to be remixed because 80s music sucked
A lot of remastered audio out there.
Another thing, there's many present day bands blending elements of the 80's style into their arrangements, except with high fidelity synth/drum pads and autotune.
They're reminiscent of the period, easily confused with an 80's remixed hit.

Kids these days can't handle the 80s straight untapped.

Sometimes the quality of modern speakers and sound system’s enhances an element of the tune that was always there but you never noticed before.

Some may be. Or your are using a different radio that sounds subtly different.
Or of course, I doubt any us really remember songs from 30-40 years ago as accurately as that, and might now pick up the faults, middling singing ability and the like, that we missed first time round!

Compression

@BackyardShaman That's my theory too: some broadcasters may be doing subtle dynamic range compression to make the quiet passages louder; it sounds better against the background noise of a traveling car. I don't know for sure if they are doing this; just a possibility.
Another possibility is the speakers or headphones are tuned to have brighter highs and boomier lows.

Checking out Youtube SO many songs actually say they've been remixed,

Some songs got rerecorded to circumvent the record company, and I guess some of those find their way into the playlist.

@darkmere1983 It has to do primarily with who owns the rights to the master recording. Usually, it's the record company and they'd have to get paid. Jeff Lynne re-recorded a whole bunch of ELO songs over to keep extra $$ when he licensed them for commercials.
