Where's Johnny Cash ?
Ducky · 31-35, F
@SW-User My thoughts exactly! I hate country, but Johnny Cash is a rare exception
SW-User
@Ducky He's the best as far as country music goes IMO
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User Or Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard or Hank Williams. I'll guess it's a generational poll.
None of them. What happened to Faith Hill? There are many more artists who really sing country well. Swift is not country. She is a rich joke.

Bob Ross does some pretty good paintings with his happy little sunshine
Montanaman · M

The late great Charlie Pride
sunnudenow · 70-79, M
Well most of my favorites are not on this list. Of course they are no longer with us - but their music lives on with us old folks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=8Xh3pwda0kc

Bonnie Raitt.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
@Haleygetsthebelt I probably have a decade or three on you, so I've heard her played more widely, including on TV. Full disclosure: I'm not a country music fan but like individual singles here and there. You're right, IMO, Raitt's not a good fit for rock--at least none of hers I know. And I'm unfamiliar with the artists you've mentioned. I don't listen to rock--I've been living under one. (Which likely makes my vote an outlier.)
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@katydidnt Been hearing Raitt for 50 years or so, never thought of her as anything except a Blues artist.
katydidnt · 61-69, F
@ChipmunkErnie Maybe I'm going too much on "looks and feels." I just "hear" a country voice when she holds forth. Different strokes.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Charlie Pride, Porter Wagoner, Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Wilf Carter, Willie Nelson, to name a few!
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
I'm not really a big Country/Western music fan, but I'm not without my select favorite songs in the genre, itself.

Some of which include...

-I Want to be Free, by Loretta Lynn.
-Stand By Your Man, by Tammy Wynette.
-9 to 5, by Dolly Parton.
-Achy Breaky Heart, by Billy Ray Cyrus.
-Ring of Fire, by Johnny Cash.

And my personal favorite... Made in Japan, by Buck Owens.
I'm going to see hardy in may.
I don't think I saw kane brown or luke combs on your list... but you'll never be able to list em all lol
@SooperSarah , yeah. Sorry. It only allows you to list, 50.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I love Taylor’s country albums, I’m only just getting into them now though as I was pretty young when they came out.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Slim Dusty of course.

Where is Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, Lee Kernaghan or Dolly Parton?
Montanaman · M
Does Darius Rucker even belong on this list? Just saying 🤔🙄
Cooper · 61-69, M
Chris Stapleton
your list seem to be incomplete.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Tough to choose.

Mudkip · 31-35, M
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M

mrmaggical · 46-50, M
Honestly, for country I've only ever listened to Taylor Swift.
Montanaman · M
@Jexie She's like the Britney Spears of Country. 😁
@Montanaman I listened to her as a teen and her genre was almost exclusively country then and she had some good songs even though I'm not a country fan.
