Do the people around you influence the type of music you listen to?

When I was a teenager I would listen to the stuff that was popular at the moment. Now I do my own thing.

No. My musical likes and dislikes don't change for anyone.

I’ve discovered lots of new things including music from people around me. I do remember one gf who only listened to indie music. She would listen to it because it was indie. I like more mainstream top 40s and R&B music and stuff to dance too. I can’t stand it when a person makes being different from what is popular their goal in life.

Sure, some .. during long drives etc .. occasionally hear new stuff I might not otherwise and add it to my playlists

They probably did in my teens of course, but Ii have broadened and developed my own tastes for myself since then.

Yes, I try not to play any 20-minute rock songs or classical music, as very few appreciate either of them.

No. But the people who post stuff on YouTube do. I would never elsewise have discovered a genre such as dungeon synth

No. My wife and friends listen to current country music, and I don't.
