What’s your favorite Sting song and why?

Fields of Gold....... This song is so smooth.
@YourMomsSecretCrush I love that one too

The one I listen to the most is King of Pain.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Still know nothing about me.

Never bought any of his stuff but there were one or two Police songs i liked and one or two i found a bit grim (Synchronicity 2 for example 😯)
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
I just like "Walking on the Moon" ... why? 'cause it sounds good to me.

Probably Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take, and yes I understand that second song is a stalker's perspective, but it's still beautiful music. Decades ago, Bloom County's penguin, Opus, had some amusing alternative lyrics: "every leaf you rake, every clam you bake ..."
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ElwoodBlues I think Sting himself did a little riff on that in his music video for "Love Is The Seventh Wave "
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
was only good when he was with the Police. Like many musicians, their music goes to shit when they break up the band and go solo...

DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@wildbill83 I respectfully disagree.I think his solo career was outstanding in its own right.
Geo686 · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 I think the key with a solo artist is to maintain collaborative relationships. If you get too greedy and controlling, you can quickly sink your career. Pick the right collaborators on a song and you have a creative powerhouse. No one is an island. Respectfully disagree about music going to shot with the Police. Copeland wrote operas, Sting sold millions of records and tore down traditional genre boundaries.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Geo686 Actually,I think that depends on the artist. Many solo artists do indeed need a good collaborator (s) in order to make their best music;a few are,in fact, islands into themselves that can make brilliant music entirely on their own .

Hard to single out just one tbh.

I love Desert Rose, Shape of My Heart, They Dance Alone, Fields of Gold, etc.

His voice is just so distinctive.

Invisible sun. I don't like Sting but have always liked that one despite him
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
"Englishman in New York" and "Fortress Around Your Heart" are favorites.
Lilymoon · F
Not a big Sting fan but I like wrapped around your finger
Penny · 46-50, F
Im not really a fan but i like kyrie eleison
Axelerator · 31-35, M
Book of my life for sure
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
I don't like Sting but I always have to endure his awful voice on the radio on my birthday because it's the same date as his and they always play one of his annoying, repetitive songs on his birthday.
Dino11 · M
Sister Moon
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I liked Every Breath You Take when I was a kid. Good sounds.

Later in life I had second thoughts, when I thought more about the lyrics. He is being a creepy stalker!

"There is a Harkonnen among you!"

ClydeKoolray · 46-50, M
“Ghost Story” - it’s the one that gets me in quiet, reflective moments.

Fortress Around Your Heart because it's the best chorus he's written as a solo artist
HypnoChode · 46-50, M
“Why Should I Cry for You?” Just a lovely song with lyrics to which I can really relate.
Desert rose because that’s the only song I know
ArtieKat · M
The Flight of the bumblebee? 🤣
Sister Moon. Lots of wonderful memories around it. In fact, that’s been my favorite song for decades, now.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I don't have one. :(
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Fields of Gold.
Meh... Fortress Around Your Heart it'd be easier if you'd asked about Police songs
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Yes,they were.From what I've read,they all RESPECTED each other,but they didn't really LIKE each other.
Geo686 · 41-45, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP if you were to ask me, I would say Sting is an utterly brilliant musician. However, his demeanor comes off quite arrogant.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Geo686 Right on both counts.
MonaReeves86 · 36-40, F
Desert rose
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Field of Gold and desert rose and Englishmrn in NY
caesar7 · 61-69, M
Wild Wild Sea.......a bit proggy and good lyrics!
