Ten Years After. Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Queen get played to death on the radio but never any Ten Years After.

[media=https://youtu.be/zEQNb17BSd0]
@BackyardShaman I think without Ten Years After there would be no 70s Country Rock, no Eagles, no Hotel California.

@Dv8rs Sex Pistols are (appropriately) in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, despite being around for just a very short time. I wouldn't call them underrated. Sid Vicious couldn't even play his instrument.

The grade doesn't look very steep from here, but if that moss gets damp... lol what I'm saying is this could be a slippery slope into full battle these days.. lol

I'll start it off with a man who many will likely believe got his fair share of the spotlight, but well never know for sure since most of his catalog has never been released, not yet. ...Prince

He played 27 different instruments, albiet, claps and finger snaps are on that list, as well as piano, guitar, bass and drums .. and he played them well. ,so well that he was admired by his peers for it, ..or feared (MJ). He was a dedicated showman with a sense of humor equal to his sense of flair. He won an Oscar for picture of the year the same year he won a Grammy for song of the year of the same title as the movie, Purple Rain. Only the Beatles have done that before with Hard Day's Night and it took all 4 of them to do it. His epic protest against the record labels that cost him his born name changed the way they treated the artists. Hes admired by artists from every genre of music i can think of yet i feel hes still underrated ..he recorded an album a week for YYYYEARS and locked them away in vault.

Ok, who else..
-Corrosion of Conformity
-Buckethead
-Kenny Wayne Shepherd
-Urban Dance Squad (the OG Rage Against the Machine) ..speaking of..
-Tom Morello (underrated guitarist)
-Infectous Grooves, as well as
-Suicidal Tendencies
-Public Enemy (more like undermined than underrated)
-Sly and the Family Stone
-Rare Earth
-ELO
-Climax Blues Band
-Dan Band 馃き
-Tool
-Minor Threat
-Circle Jerks
-Mars Volta
-Spinners (Detroit or otherwise)
- many of the one hit wonder bands of the '70s like looking glass, exile, Don McLean, etc etc too many to list.
-Hall & Oats
-Carpenters
I'm not going to go into Motown. Or rather, any further into Motown. Rare Earth and I believe The Spinners were Motown Acts. Maybe even Sly in the family stone. I'm not sure

@Jayciedubb That's fascinating about all that unreleased material by Prince! I like his music a lot and am happy to have seen him in concert.

Thanks for this whole list to! This will take a while to listen to :D
Jayciedubb56-60, M
@ServantOfTheGoddess and I don't think he's got that many blood relatives. And he didn't have a will. But I understand is that he has a son who's in prison and he's got a sister. Although his son may be out of prison by now. I may seem like a big fan boy of his but I didn't really have much of his stuff I had maybe three of his albums. He played around here a lot but I never took the time to go see him unfortunately. My favorite video of him is the night of his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his tribute to George Harrison. On a stage full of skilled and accomplished musicians he blew them all away with just his skill on the guitar. Not his voice not his dancing none of that stuff. I don't know if you know about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but every artist that gets inducted gets to bring only one guest. Any other guests has to pay $15,000 per ticket or something like that maybe it's 10,000. But it's a lot and they don't cut anybody any slack. Prince gave his ticket to the guy who catches him when he bows backwards to Tom Petty and I'm assuming who caught his guitar at the end of the song . cuz nobody knew where it landed. When I first saw the video they kind of pan across Prince and he's off to the far right like an extra. I remember thinking that guy looks like Prince but it couldn't be. He wouldn't be off to the side like that. It's one of my son's favorite videos so I watch it a lot. It was at least once a day for a couple of years I'm sure. We just watch it again yesterday and the day before that.

@ServantOfTheGoddess as for the rest of that list, when it comes to Buckethead you might want to start with the Josh freeze interview. It's very interesting. It talks about his introduction to Axl Rose and the shit he made Axl Rose go through to get him signed on to guns n' roses for his tenure. It's funny. Other than his stuff with guns n' roses, primus, and Praxis . ..Bootsie Collins, he's quite prolific with his output also. I don't know if it's quite an album a week but it could be at times. His most famous song is probably soothsayer. Or Colma. He's a very fascinating artist. Nobody knows what he looks like except for close friends he's always in character. That is with the Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head and an expressionless White kabuki mask he's also a good dancer and has some pretty good nunchuck skills. I don't know which video I would recommend there are many and he's got to be one of the best guitar players ever born in my opinion. That includes bass guitar and banjo. He's another one who's looked up to by his peers

If you want some songs that you really want to rock out to right out of the gate come first time hearing it, Corrosion of Conformity has got some songs like that. Like long whip big america, albatross, clean my wounds.

Oh crap, can't believe I left Godsmack off the original list. I remember the first time hearing godsmack's, go away. It became an instant classic with me as I was hearing it for the first time. And their stage performance is outstanding. The singer plays a guitar and plays the drums as well as anybody else in the band. They even have a drum battle. It's nice.

If you need a good pick me up anthem, Suicidal Tendencies, You Can't Bring Me Down should do the trick, as long as you get the uncensored version

If you want a really good punk rock toe Tapper, listen to MDC's, John Wayne was a Nazi. Regardless of your take on John Wayne or the Nazi party, you can't help but tap your toes to that song . it's got a really crisp and melodic bass intro.

If you want to truly underrated band I would go with Urban Dance squad. They were Rage Against the Machine for two albums right before Rage Against the Machine came out their first. They're from the Netherlands and didn't get much play here. I think it what's the name of the band that did it in for them. They had a lot of good songs as far as I was concerned but the only one that comes to mind right now is say a little prayer for my demo

@ServantOfTheGoddess it's that one about I think he's going to kill some girl, serial killer Style. That's my interpretation of it.

" I can promise you you'll stay as beautiful with dark hair and soft skin forever. Make up your mind. Make up your mind blah blah blah I don't mean to scare you. So help me Jesus. .. Give It Up to Me Do you want to be my angel"
..that song. there's another band called Toad the Wet Sprocket at the same time and I always wondered if they were the same band or were they like rush and mahogany rush of the seventies..
