It’s because the culture has changed and become more depraved and less wholesome. The goal is to sexualize children. They already have some soft p*rn books, and drag queens in some schools. It’s disgusting. If you want to see change, then you have to stop watching, and let the Woke go broke.

I know what you mean - if you see too people in bed together you don't have to see the bits to know what they are doing
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@Pretzel thank u

I wonder how people would react if there were so many same-sex sex scenes instead. 😐 Especially man on man.
SW-User
@CrazyMusicLover that's in there too, it's not excluded
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@SW-User I've only seen it in obscure movies. Although it's true I don't know much about series...
SW-User
@CrazyMusicLover I've even seen a dude on top of another dude (under the covers) on a network tv series (via Netflix) ... obligatory sex scenes (and gay scenes) do seem like some generic formula checklist most movies and series have to go through now, before they can get on with everything else ... I mean it's not like porn is hard to access these days, so it just seems like silly filler now, not even a draw to get people to go out to a cinema to see a movie they otherwise might not pay to see because no tiddies

Two words: sex sells
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@ChiefJustWalks good point
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
@DarkSideoftheMoon lol you're definitely right though it seems like every popular series these days has sex 😅 especially any drama or romance stuff that they're trying to market to women. They always add some romantic but graphic sex scenes nowadays lol

Sex sells. Sometimes they put in a sex scene just to get a R rating because it draws a bigger audience. And you’re right, most of the time it’s not necessary for the story.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@jackson55 i dont mind a sex scene but i feel like its becoming overthetop it feels constant and shows are becoming raunchier. I feel like instead of watching shows with the family, i have to hide away to watch them becoming i dont want to watch some gurl getting fucked for 30 seconds each show while my mom sits besides me
jackson55 · M
@DarkSideoftheMoon I agree with you. But like I said earlier, sex sells. As long as the movie business gets results from silly unneeded sex scenes they will continue.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
I’m no prude by any means, but Hulu has shocked the hell out of me with what they’ve shown during the sex scenes of some of their originals. It’s like the first time I heard “dick” said on television. Had a “Oh. Okay. Didn’t know you could do that” reaction to both.
Really · 80-89, M
To me the most interesting question is not why 'sex sells' (I think I understand that) but why our culture conditions us to view it as something to be kept hidden and virtually secret.
The sex act is how we got here. Ma & Pa 'screwed' each other and quite likely enjoyed themselves doing it but we can't talk to them about that, or - God forbid! - see them or others doing the same thing. Until very recently everybody we know was created the same way. It's a very basic part of being human and an almost universal life-affirming drive but we're supposed to keep quiet about it - even consider it obscene? That, I think, is in itself a VERY obscene idea.
And it's the main reason the marketplace can take advantage of so many peoples' semi secret obsession with open depictions of sexuality.

@DarkSideoftheMoon My mother is long dead. I and my daughter were raised in the same sort of culture as, I suppose, you were, so our sense of embarrassment would be similar to yours. Or maybe not: Among other things I'd never have said 'fuck' in front of either of them.
The difference is that I think about things.

@Really sorry for ur loss
Yeah i think about things too but i dont want to watch some woman bent over a couch getting dicked down for 30 seconds with my mom besides me. Just how i think and feel personally but to each its own

[@DarkSideoftheMoiseon] Thanks for the thought but my mother died decades ago. Age-wise she'd be far into the triple digits by now. I'm no longer grieving her death. Plenty of other stuff in the world to agonize over.
If by 'but to each his own' you imply that you can intuit my tolerance for the kind of ugly scene YOU have imagined in your head you are far off base. The language you use doesn't speak well of your attitude towards human sexuality. Are you still wishing for a vampire to invade your bedroom and bite you to orgasm?

DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@black4white on tv theyd blurr it out but because its streamed theyre just getting raunchier and it sucks because besides that, these shows are sooo good. Id love to watch them with my family but its awkward
black4white · 56-60, M
@DarkSideoftheMoon I know exactly what you mean.... dont get me wrong i can go for a good romantic scene once in a while BUT as i have aged the best ones to me are right when they start kissing and all that and getting heavy...the scenes cut to the next morning. BOOOM!!! we know what happen and movies make it far more prettier and all then it really is... haha
Elessar · 26-30, M
I watched Game of Thrones with my mother at the time 🥴

The one I hate is there’s always someone throwing up in everything I watch ,wether it’s a series a movie etc 🤦♂️ Lol
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@SW-User I hate that too! Like...we really didn't need to SEE the vomit, ok???
SW-User
🤢. Yup. Lol. What’s next ,picking there noses 👃.? Lol @DearAmbellina2113
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Unfortunately sex sells.
I see little need for it. Theres soft porn if you want that kinda of thing.
But mainly Hollywood is a soft porn industry

DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@Gangstress trying to watch true detective while my mom was here and i was so tense
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Most would think it’s “really good” because of the sex scenes. But, it’s admittedly hard to watch with a parent, or in my case where I have daughters roughly your age. I couldn’t do that tbh.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I hate that, I will actually stop watching a series if there are too many needless sex scenes. It gets really old.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@DearAmbellina2113 should be rated XXX
Really · 80-89, M
I believe sex sells because of our society's officially prudish attitude towards it. It sells precisely because we're told it should be kept hidden.
Justafantasy · M
Or else explosions and violence. Little one use to fall asleep in my arms at the explosion scenes in a tv show first few months of their life
Josh1454 · M
To be fair, I’m generally watching a series by myself whether there is or isn’t sex.
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@Josh1454 yeah same
Josh1454 · M
@DarkSideoftheMoon I’m not against sex in shows but I do find those with too much I don’t even watch. I’ve never finished Game of Thrones and have no desire to watch House of the Dragon or whatever it’s called. It needs to progress the show and be within reason.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Because sex is a real part of life with all its pitfalls
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@Convivial yeah but i feel like they go too far sometimes like rolling around under the covers should be enough
Convivial · 26-30, F
@DarkSideoftheMoon possibly true, i don't know....i guess if you have young kids it becomes an issue
pdockal · 56-60, M
Sex sells
But what's the big deal
It's just naked bodies which is natural and beautiful

DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@smileylovesgaming no but i dont do that stuff infront of my parents
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
I don't know, but I don't like watching that stuff with the family. Some things a man has to watch on his own
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@DarkSideoftheMoon That is priceless hahahaha!!
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@TheLordOfHell had to share
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@DarkSideoftheMoon That made my whole morning hahaha! Thanks for that laugh
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
Because theres nearly sex in every series?
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@MartinTheFirst i guess not all of them but some really good ones theres really raunchy scenes and its just awkward to watch when moms around
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@DarkSideoftheMoon id rather they werent there at all to be fair, its not like we need to stuff our heads with more goop
Bang5luts · M
I know. If I want to watch porn. I know where to go..... everywhere.. ffs🤭smfh
DDonde · 31-35, M
HBO is particularly bad with this I've found
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@DDonde its weird
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
Sex sells
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
It’s because sex sells but honestly I don’t think it’s needed in most shows/movies.
SW-User
It seems like it's a box on a list that has to be checked off anymore, it's ridiculous ... it's similar to how no one can make a movie without having obligatory scenes of people smoking ... it's like people just aren't creative enough to tell a story without all this extra fluff
DarkSideoftheMoon · 31-35, F
@SW-User im surprised jessica lang in american horror story isnt dead with the amount of cigs she smoked in all those seasons lmao

It's often unnecessary and just makes the whole thing awkward, I'm not sure why it's normalised to watch people in their beds on TV or movies🤔😂

@SW-User its like ok brief nudity fine but theyre going crazy with it now.
