I can so relate, it's always a quandary
Good... That'll teach you not to eat my unhatched children!!! 😱😱😱

I like soft boiled eggs. And eggs over easy.

I had to.stop eating them because they make me fart too much 🤷🏻♀

Where is the image feed chef when you need him 🙄
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
I feel that anxious anticipation every time I’m making deviled eggs for holiday meals. But I also boil them for like 30 minutes just to ensure they’re cooked to high heaven to avoid that raw catastrophe. It’s rather ridiculous of me but 🤷🏻♀

Boil for 6 minutes exactly and you've got a soft boiled egg. Make sure water is boiling before adding egg btw.

But is a raw egg the worst thing? 👀 That’s our worst case scenario, right?

@itsok Some people eat raw eggs you know! So parasitic worms are a bit unlikely, but even if it were to occur. All that takes is a trip to the doctor. It’s not the end of the world. Some people also eat the developed embryo of a bird… 😖 Horrific I know, but comforting for me to know that people engage in these things and are usually just fine. You’ll become stronger if one of these chance occurrences happen! If in no other way than mental fortitude. Making you even better at caring for those you love. See? Let’s use our mental processes to see good outcomes too. Lol.
That's strange... Maybe someone here can help: https://similarworlds.com/food-drink/cook/mindstruggles-boiled-eggs

@NerdyPotato Owls hatch from eggs, too, mister... 🤨🤨🤨
@HootyTheNightOwl but those aren't the ones humans eat...
@NerdyPotato Only because owls are a protected species...

cibophobia or ovophobia
itsok · 31-35, F
@NightsWatch I’ve never heard of those. Cibophobia sounds more similar. I have contamination ocd

When I boil a few eggs I put them in an old egg carton I labeled "Boiled". I've had it for years and mostly it sits empty in a cabinet, but it solves the mystery issue when I do hard boil a few.
I under or over cook it. Valid fear, truly
KeyserSoze · 36-40, M
That’s the charm of the boiled egg! It’s part of its mystique. You cannot control it… unless you google how many minutes it would it ta… but anyways..
itsok · 31-35, F
@KeyserSoze reality has little to do with my worries of the raw egg. I can cook it double what it says, and my brain can convince me it’s still raw
BillyMack · 46-50, M
Turn that bish upside down and tap that…
tip. Until you hear the small pop. Should peel easier.
You may not conquer your fear but you’ll have showed it who’s the dominant one.

Maybe that little fear isn’t about the egg at all....really.
Maybe it’s that weird quiet human suspicion that certainty is always one thin shell away from collapse.
Tap that shell.....Peel anyway.
Most of life feels raw right before it proves it’s survived the heat.

It’s a valid fear tbh, sometimes it does end up being raw 🤢
So I'm guessing peeling it before boiling won't help you then.
