I have this fear every time I have an unpeeled boiled egg that I’m about to eat

That somehow it hasn’t been boiled, and when I start to peel it, it’s going to be a raw egg. Even if I’ve just cooked it.

Maybe that little fear isn’t about the egg at all....really.

Maybe it’s that weird quiet human suspicion that certainty is always one thin shell away from collapse.
