@OlderSometimesWiser
Great list.
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
Schindler's list really hit me. I enjoy watching regular documentaries though. Hollywood tends to rip out your heart. Not that it shouldn't when going over certain historical events, but I don't need any help crying lol

Oh and the Harriet tubman movie was great as I live not far from there
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@ScreamingFox Hollywood can rip out the heart and also toys with the facts sometimes for the sake of plot...but their goal is to entertain. I like documentaries as well. But Schindler's List was an amazing movie.
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
@ScreamingFox I almost chose this as well. Fantastic movie but I don’t want to see it again.

@4thdimensiondream Great one, actually rewatched this one not too long ago.
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
@SpectralMourning this and Shawshank I’ve prob seen over25x each and I’m not exaggerating.

Thought Oppenheimer was an interesting movie
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
Gladiator is my favorite. I enjoy Braveheart too, Pride and Prejudice, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Titanic are all good films. A 'historical' show that was really good, was Vikings.
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan are right up there for me.
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@SleepingWithGhosts Two of the best most definitely.
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
Hmm, does The Great Escape count? 🤔
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@thepeculiarpanda Of course, based on a true story...with liberties taken of course, but they're all like that.
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
@SpectralMourning Oh, I enjoyed Oppenheimer as well.

Gettysburg and have read the book based off the movie
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@parttimegal Good one, never read the book but enjoyed Gettysburg and I believe I enjoyed Gods and Generals even more. There was supposed to be a third film but Gods and Generals tanked so bad that it never happened.
parttimegal · 46-50, MNew
@SpectralMourning The book is The Killer Angels by by Michael Shaara

Is Clash of the Titans considered historical?
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@AngelUnforgiven Believe that would fall more into mythical/fantasy.

@SpectralMourning thank you
