What films did you watch over and over and over as a child?

You know, to the point the VHS was worn out.
Eidolon · M
If I were forced to pick just 1, I think it would have to be "Enter the Dragon"... had a copy on Betamax as well as later on VHS. (Probably still have them in the storage room somewhere)
"Big Trouble In Little China" was also quite a 'go-to' back in the day, and also the first 2 "Back to the Future"(s)

The Godfather(1972)
Enter the Dragon(1973)
The Karate Kid(1984)
The Neverending Story (1984)
Big Trouble In Little China(1986)
Die Hard(1988)
Willow(1988)
Back to the Future 1 & 2 (1985 & 1989)
If Looks Could Kill-Teen Agent(1991)
Stargate(1994)
Léon-The Professional(1994)
The Shawshank Redemption(1994)
Waterworld(1995)
Outbreak(1995)
The Usual Suspects(1995)
Heat(1995)
Die Hard with a Vengeance(1995)
Face Off(1997)
The Saint(1997)
Fallen(1998)

@DarkHeaven I re-watched Willow about a month or 2 back... I dunno... it didn't leave such an impression on me as it did back then. I think I need to re-watch it again 🤔
@Eidolon I’m sure. I’d still get caught up in the nostalgia… kind of like Firefly.

LOL we didn’t have a VCR when I was a kid, but the wizard of oz was on tv every year, and it was An Event. Even at the age of 20 in my own apartment, I remember speeding home after work so I didn’t miss the beginning. 😄
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@JustNik Cops are still looking for you. 🤨
JustNik · 51-55, F
@Degbeme I was nothin but dust 😎
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
VHS came around LONG after I was a child. As a kid, thanks to independent TV stations out of NYC, I watched and re-watched KING KONG, MIGHTY JOE YOUNG, SON OF KONG, GODZILLA, RODAN, all the ABBOTT AND COSTELLO films, all the BOWERY BOYS films, and all the Johnny Weissmuller TARZAN filmsagain and again.
@ChipmunkErnie wow. i got 5 9 12 19 and a fuzzy couple of educational channels
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@DIABLISS I can vaguely remember when Channel 13 (considered a NYC channel but originally out of Newark, I think) changed over from a commercial station to the first "educational" channel -- quite a disappointment one Sunday morning when I turned on the TV and the shows i was used to were gone.
@ChipmunkErnie can you imagine how kids feel now? they have to have the ability to stream to watch good stuff on saturday

The only movie we watched as kids was 2001: A Space Odyssey but I found it boring for the most part. Then we had animated tv series for kids. Mostly Once Upon a Time... Life and Delfy and His Friends. I never learned how to operate VHS player so the decision was always up to my brother.
OneDayMore · 36-40, M
