The USA and other powers - including Russia which is already Iran's ally - wading in.

A lot of this, though not all, can be laid at America having deliberately wrecked the multinational nuclear-power treaty with Iran, for no clear purpose.

If the UK and other European nations stay out of it they may regain some respect from the Tehran government, nasty though that government is even to Iranians, with some prospect of resurrecting the treaty.

I don't know if President Trump imagines that bombing the country will lead into becoming a peaceful, friendly democracy; but if so he will fail. Only the Iranians themselves can do that, by their own efforts.

for the life of my iranian friend. just a few weeks ago her biggest concern was her exams
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Apart from all the innocent civilian lives that are going to be lost in another senseless war? My biggest concern is that because the US is almost certainly going to side with the aggressor, Israel, we are going to be an even greater villain on the global scene that we already are, and make of ourselves a bigger target. And it's well known that the type of people we're enraging have less incentive to differentiate between military and civilian targets, because they have a massive disadvantage to begin with.

In other words, this is going to lead to more terrorist attacks on civilians in the US.
SandWitch · 26-30, F
@LordShadowfire
You better believe it will. Everything you've said is correct. We have to remember that the reason 9-11 was Masterminded by Osama bin Ladin was because of the USA's presence in Saudi Arabia and Somalia, where the US military was hired by the Saudi's to provide security in the region for Saudi Arabia in particular.

Osama then came to the USA during 9-11 as a direct declaration of war against the USA because of the US immersing itself into the Middle East as described, under the pretense of offering military security services.

If anyone here thinks that the Middle East region of the world is going to sit idly by and watch quietly as Trump drops 'bunker buster' bombs onto Iran, then they've forgotten about the 9-11 shitte show that the Americans literally brought to their own shores from their inappropriate presence in the Middle East.

Nuclear detonations
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Pisciatto1 Firstly there would have to be nuclear weapons available for them to take (they would not be able to make them as they can improvise HE bombs), and even assuming they knew how to operate them, some way to use it. Nuclear fission bombs are quite complicated as killing-machines go; fusion weapons even more so.
Pisciatto1 · 26-30, M
@ArishMell I hope that you are right …

@Pisciatto1 Indeed!

The usual about wars.. 😏 in an ideal world we don't have wars .. but when you live in a world where the the islamic tyrants occupying iran are using the country's resources to pay your neighbors to murder you and are literally sending bombs to attack your people and are threatening to make a bigger more deadly bomb.. well you have to fight them 🙄 because they obviously use them and you have to eliminate the threat.. Israel targets the weapons and the military threats unlike her enemies who actually want to eliminate her people which is the real attempted genocide .. but the islamic regime uses their wealth and influence to throw shade on Israel to the highest degree but that’s another story.

That trump acts like he is in total control of declaring war on Iran. That power used to belong to Congress only and trump will do anything if it profits him personally.

That the US response won't be Swift and hard enough to crush the regime
When Osama bin Ladin organized an invasion of the USA on September 11, 2001 his reason for the invasion was about him personally taking exception to the USA being in Saudi Arabia providing so-called 'security' for the Saudi government, which the US military was hired for.

If all it took for 9-11 to happen was for a Middle Eastern political hardliner to take exception to the US military standing guard on a Saudi palace, what do you think WILL happen to the USA if Trump bombs Iran or takes out the current Regime in Iran?

If you think 9-11 was a big deal, you ain't seen anything yet if Trump takes a shot at Iran!

@TangledUpInBlue Then prove to me that there is a White genocide going on in S Africa. There's certainly a vendetta against S African farmers of all races, that I don't dispute. But I dismiss claims of White genocide. Provide actual verifiable evidence to the contrary.
@iamthe99 Why should I have to prove anything to you, again? I shared plenty the other day, but you didn’t engage with it. You didn’t read it properly, and you certainly didn’t listen. Instead, you proceeded to lecture me on the reality of a country I actually live in, as if my firsthand perspective means nothing.
And let’s be clear: I never used the word “genocide.” That’s your word, not mine. So before demanding proof for claims I haven’t made, take a moment to engage with what’s actually being saidnot what you’ve decided to argue against.

If you’re genuinely interested in open, good-faith dialogue, then show it. Until then, it’s hard to see the point in having another one-sided exchange where only one of us is expected to listen.

It's a religious war between two false religions. If Christians step in the war becomes between three false religions.
EarthGirl · 18-21, F
@emiliya Pantheism is unrelated to natural afterlife. It consists of two forms of outreaching: one associated with magical afterlife and the other with natural cessation. Biology is unrelated to natural afterlife as well, unless evolution is considered part of an argument in support of it.
emiliya · 22-25, F
@EarthGirl How? Birth and natural cessation are biological. Ammonia and nitrogen from decomposing flesh being absorbed by soil is no revelation. Why is this a religion?

“We see death as the return to nature of our elements, and the end of our existence as individuals. The forms of ‘afterlife’ available to humans are natural ones, in the natural world. Our actions, our ideas and memories of us live on, according to what we do in our lives. Our genes live on in our families, and our elements are endlessly recycled in nature.” — The World Pantheist Movement

The Pantheists seem to be real Sherlocks.

Do you think the natural world is divine? “Divine” is from the Latin “divinus”, meaning “of a god.” Is the Earth your god?
EarthGirl · 18-21, F
@emiliya I wish you happiness in whatever you believe, but would ask you to not guess wrongly at what I believe.
