Do I tell my psychiatrist I've been self-harming, or no?

Honestly I'm inclined not to tell her.

if you go to this person for help but dont tell them the things they *actually* need to know to help you, theyre not gonna be able to do their job

Hun you are indicating a bad life style pattern and choices yes you should seek professional help. How can they fully help you if they don't know everything?
Why? Shes there to help you! Please DONT hurt yourself! People love you!

Please tell her I hope you get the help you need

If you’re not going to tell her what’s really going on then why do you go. Thats just wasted money and time. If you’re seeing this Dr. for help but not being honest then you’re not getting any help for what’s really going on with you. Please be honest and get the help you need.
OverTheHill · 56-60, M
Yes. There are people in your life who care about you. Seek.out some help.

@DearAmbellina2113 I know I don't know you well, I haven't been here long; but I care about you! Always a message away if you want to talk/vent/be distracted.
OverTheHill · 56-60, M
@DearAmbellina2113 Even if you have a strained relationship with family, they would not want to see you harming yourself.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@OverTheHill they really do not care. They have not spoken to me in years.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
If you cannot be honest with them about your illness then why bother going? It’s important that you tell them.
Sapio · 51-55, M
Yes, you should tell her. She's not there to judge. She's there to help.
Sure keep paying her and don’t be honest with her. Good plan.
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
If you don’t open up about what’s wrong she can’t help.
Maritocorneo · 56-60, M

Yes you should

No one can suggest that you should, but if you feel safe with her, I think you should. 💙

It took me a really long time to tell anyone because it felt like it was a box I could never close if I opened it. And I was so ashamed. But it really needs to be talked about eventually 💙
