Cause and effect.

What do you think :

1. Depression causes loneliness.

2. Loneliness causes depression.
Can be a chicken and egg thing where each makes the other worse.

Depression arises when a person has felt trapped in an unwanted situation for a long time (months or years) - unable to see any way that they can change it or escape.

Loneliness can be one of those situations.
Loneliness can arise for many reasons: not being heard or understood by loved ones, physical isolation, disability, loss of independence or freedom, poverty, homelessness, difficulties with family, work or other relationships, compulsive behaviours, addictions, being gaslighted or bullied, dementia, effects of chronic pain, ill-health, chemotherapy, post-viral complications.

Anger and or anxiety can also be a major or primary cause of depression.

There are many ways to climb out of depression. They all take effort, patience and persistence.
1. Each day, get out of bed early and go for at least a half hour's walk, no matter what the weather.
2. Eat a healthy diet of only fresh foods.
3. Keep a journal. It's helps develop insight and understanding.
4. Do at least 4 hrs a week voluntary work for a charity - people, animals or the environment.
5. Practice random acts of kindness and beauty.
6 Talk w. strangers on buses, in lines/queues or in public places.

These are not the whole fix, but they go a long way in the right direction.
Tragic cycle.

Incredibly complicated and unfathomably difficult to break the cycle but can be done.

Generally major changes need to take place in one’s life that alter environment or people.

Like moving our careers change.

It’s loop thing. But it has been shown that if you resolve the uncomfortable situation, depression typically resolves as well.

Both. It depends on the person. Everyone is different.
