Parent of adhd child

Is anybody dealing with a violent adhd child?
SW-User
My kid had major impulse control issues when he was younger . He used to hit himself when he was angry or frustrated too ..he never hurt anyone physically though . Find a good behavior therapist who specializes in adhd/add. We went through three different ones . The one he has now is wonderful and talks to him on his level . It will take time but they will get through it ...with a solid support system put in place ...at home and at school ...it's super important to have that . Also ..if you haven't yet ..look into getting an iep or 504 plan for you child for school * if you're in the US * I don't know what country you're in ..but they may have similar things in place to help your child . Best of luck! It will get better !

@sexylady89 see the reason I mention swaying is because I have autism but lucky I don鈥檛 have the asbergers syndrome like some my my friends have.

The swaying back and forth is comforting and helps me sort my thoughts a bit easier.

Try music that very much helps or atleast it does it my case.

My advice is enter him in sports, having high energy levels are good, if he鈥檚 impatient give him a tablet or something to occupy him and capture his focus.

Having adhd is a blessing because people like a person who naturally energetic and if they have a POSITIVE energy they will likely be successful! 馃榿

No and I thank goodness I do not have kids because if one of mine was too difficult it would be very hard for me to stay patient. Sorry just being honest.

No but be aware. Ptsd is often misdiagnosed as ADHD. Woyh PTSD anger outbursts is very common. I would let the child see a child trauma specialist.

Wow. Most ADHD kids are day dreamers. Others are disruptive. Violent is unusual. Seek professional help.
only on sw. they're thick on the ground here.
sounds like a difficult challenge. sorry you're facing it.
