I'm curious to know, people who oppose the COVID vaccine. Are you only opposed to this specific vaccine? Or do you not believe in vaccination at all?

MrBlueGuy Best Comment
I find it funny the same people drinking alcohol, smoking a ciggarette and eating a doughnut are of the opinion the government is trying to poison them.
CrustyDDingus36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick I prefer Charlie green face lol.
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus That story is fascinating but sad.
CrustyDDingus36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Mr Ballen's latest one is even more tragic, especially considering the timing in which I saw it

ElwoodBluesM
Don't expect rationality from the vaccine refuseniks. They are the same right wingers who reject evolution and the geological age of the earth. Did you know that the Covid death rate in red counties is more than double the rate in blue counties? It's part of the tragic cost of their ignorance (and remember that for each death there's 25 cases of long covid and 7 or 8 long hospitalizations)

This poll says 10% of democrats are unvaccinated while 39% of republicans are unvaccinated. No wonder their infection rates are so high!
Muldoon56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues the difference between red/blue is 0.00035 which is not double the rate, red leads blue states by 0.035%.
100,075 is not double the rate of 100,035.
ElwoodBluesM
@Muldoon 75 deaths per 100K is more than double 35 deaths per 100K.
Muldoon56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues you won.
Update: blue states started off surging ahead of red states but that changed somewhere around late Sept.
I respect you and how you debate
Thanks for listening!
OggggO36-40, M
I predict a lot of them are gonna say they're only against this vaccine, while listing what the average anti-vaxxer says about every vaccine.
pdockal56-60, M
First it should NOT be mandated
It was rushed
pdockal56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues I wasn't home schooled

Your full of yourself ... good analogs
You stuck on drinking and driving aren't you

Yes those are choices but NOT mandates

I wear helmet but it shouldn't be a law

I wear seat belt but it shouldn't be a law

You never answered ...
what percentage of infected die

What percentage of infected aren't reported
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@pdockal Well then I guess you must also not eat any food or drink any beverage that you didn't produce yourself, right? How can you be certain that anything in the grocery store or at the restaurant isn't going to be recalled tomorrow morning?

And you must produce your own clothing too I suppose. I mean, you can risk buying it from a brand that makes it because maybe you'll flip on the telly and find that the fabric it's made out of us actually carcinogenic.

I'd assume you also make all your own soaps and shampoos. No yelling how many brands of shower gel or toothpaste the FDA has approved despite it being harmful to your health.

You're lucky enough to live near a source of fresh water too, right? I mean there's no way you can trust the tap water in your house. It could be laced with hydrogen cyanide or something.
pdockal56-60, M
@BlueMetalChick
well I filter my water
And I soften my water
I don't usually try anything that is newly discovered until it's been proven safe
Never used illegal drugs (except pot)
I do have a garden but not a farm where I can produce live livestock to eat
I've had to be careful with food due to allergies
ONLY TAKE MEDICATIONS WHEN I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE
Don't even take asprin
I try to find natural foods etc etc
RebelFox36-40, F
I wouldn't say I oppose it. My son is vaccinated for polio and those which school had required. The reason I opt out of the covid vaccine is because since it all started, its been blown way out of proportion. There's been a lot of media and politics involved. I know people think I'm an idiot, but I've been reading about, exploring and studying nature as long as I've been able to, and things like covid and flu do have a purpose in nature. There's A LOT of humans and already we forgot how the rest of our shared environment had a chance to flourish while we were quarantined. Life requires balance.

Maybe I'm jaded. My parents are dead and I work hard to keep my son and I healthy. I dont feel at risk. And well, no, i dont trust my government, not in the slightest. Are we being selfish trying to fight the truth? We are not immortal and we are destroying the planet... No one will do anything except pick a side and complain about the other. I think the whole system is fucked. Its not just about covid, its about control.

I remain unvaccinated and I dont care if others choose to be or not. Thats our choice.
gol97941-45, M
I don't oppose it should be a choice with no repercussions. And please don't come here with "it is a choice but you'll lose your income and be isolated from society of you don't take it. That's your choice" That is not a choice, it's threats.

For all the people who advocate this injection are you aware that the swine flu injection for pulled for safety reasons as 54 ppl died from it?

Have the companies that are pushing this ever been fined for falsifying research data or bribery? Haas the research for covid injection been manipulated (it has, see Peter doshi, editor of the BMJ)?

it should be a choice

Even tho this is pretty old I will pipe in.

I think most vax's are cool and useful.
I have, what I think, is a valid concern about the Covid Vax and it has nothing to do with anything I read about it or seen on Reddit or Facebook or anything like that.
Maybe you will see my point.

I don't like how Trump set the bar so high on these companies finding the Vax.
I feel like all he did was encourage them to get something fast and maybe not so good, or as good as it could be.
Belladonna41-45, F
I'm only against the Covid vaccine. The definition of vaccine had to be changed to include it as a vaccine even. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Experimental gene therapy. I got two of the "vaccinations" before I knew anything about it, I'm NOT getting a third.
@Belladonna

Well let me offer you some information about this mRNA vaccine.

It is NOT gene therapy because it cannot alter your genome and mRNA therapy was invented decades ago. That part is not new.

What it does is instruct your cells to create the spike protein so that your immune system recognizes these proteins if you get infected for real.
BUT! The important part is that these "instructions" degrade over a few weeks and the production stops.
This does not represent a permanent change to your cell's activity.
The RNA cannot enter the nucleus of the cell to access your DNA and even if it could it does not have the correct structure to affect and alter your DNA.
It's not gene therapy by any definition because it is not altering the genes.

Is it 100% safe? Nope.
No medical intervention is.
If it has an effect then it can have a side effect and that goes for literally every vaccine, medicine or therapy you receive.
And we are seeing those side effects in some people but we must remember that millions and millions of people are receiving this vaccine with no ill effects.
We must note that ICUs are now being filled with the un-vaccinated victims of COVID.

I get that new things can be scary. Especially when it's been politicized.
Hope this helps馃憤
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@Belladonna Synthetic spike proteins? Oh dear...

Ok so you don't know a spike protein is. First, let's take care of that. A "spike protein" the real name of which is a peplomer is a type of structure found on the outside of a virus. You can't generate "synthetic spike proteins" in your body being a spike protein is part of a virus, not something that just exists on its own. It's like if you produced a bunch of plastic bottle caps without any bottles to go on.
Belladonna41-45, F
@Pikachu @BlueMetalChick I don't even know what's true anymore.

For the record, I'm not right wing. Pikachu mentioned the vaccine being politicized, and I'm seeing a lot of people saying right wingers tend to be anti-Covid vaccination. Anyway...
CrustyDDingus36-40, M
馃ぁ boing boing, honk honk.
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus That's your coworkers avoiding vaccination despite being obese fucks.
CrustyDDingus36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick that's my reply being reduced to it's basic elements.
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus No it's not. Your reply being reduced to its basic elements would probably consist of some kind of Jackson Pollock style painting overlaid on top of a meme template.
ViperM
I'm not apposed to it, but as far as "only opposed to this specific vaccine?"...

More and more I'm trusting Johnson and Johnson less and less as they're quality seems to go down hill further and further and making more errors. So I trust their product less than the others.
doong56-60, M
I think there will be 2 sub-group. Those who are still waiting for Novavax, and those who doesn't believe Covid vaccine at all.

I do not believe the current vaccine, but will watch-out other vaccine that may still come.
AthrillatheHunt51-55, M
Many people are against all vaccines .
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@AthrillatheHunt Yes, but are you in particular?
iamonfire69641-45, F
I think most are only against this vaccine because they believe misinformation and disinformation touted by people who are not an expert on vaccines and epidemiology. Social media has been the downfall of this pandemic. I am not sure when society stopped listening to those experts and would rather get their information from some unverified source.
